Event: WCOC Osbornedale State Park

Trail run warm up/down 10:00 [1]
weight:145lbs shoes: VJ Integrator
Jogging around the fields getting ready, trying to warm up in brisk wind.
Orienteering race 1:18:13 [4] *** 6.2 km (12:37 / km) +350m 9:50 / km
spiked:7/13c shoes: VJ Integrator
Osbornedale SP Red - 50, sunny, very windy - 40-50 mph gusts. Nice event up and down and up and down and up..... you get the idea. For a small park, a lot of up can be built into a course. Fun.

Took a bit to get going. Kind of bobble going to 1 as didn't seem to read right. Then tried to be aggressive going to 2 and got really hung up in barberry NE of pond. Should have gone a bit further and gone thru the marsh. Then went well until heading to 6 and got distracted by Petr polivka and sucked too far L. got down into more barberry and nothing looked right. Circled a bit and then found it. Rest went well.

Nice outing. Good job Rich and Jim.

Saturday Oct 28

Strength (nycb 2) 55:00 [1]
weight:146lbs
Good routine while we watched the dumping rain and thought of Joe's Du-O. Sorry we missed it.

Friday Oct 27

Trail run long 1:11:00 [1] 6.0 mi (11:49 / mi)
weight:148lbs shoes: NB1060
Purple loop - 30, bright clear, great day but slow sluggish run. Just couldn't get going with a good pace. Maybe tired from the week so far. Or maybe it's the extra weigh? So what is this sudden bounce? Must be the extra Manicotti last night for dinner. Couldn't possibly for be the fresh-baked chocalate chip cookies! Nah!

Thursday Oct 26

Trail run warm up/down 43:00 [1]
weight:146lbs shoes: DS Trainer X
Horse Trail - 44, clear, blustery Canadian winds again. Jog out/stretching/slower jog back.
Trail run intervals 30:00 [4]
shoes: DS Trainer X
Horse Trail - Interval pyramid: 2x3x4x4x3x2' with half time for rcy. These were somewhat hard. Seemed to be a push to finish and seemed to go a long time. Still nice effort on a very beautiful run, shuffling through the fallen leaves.

Wednesday Oct 25

Trail run 37:00 [1] 3.0 mi (12:20 / mi)
weight:144lbs shoes: NB1060
Beaver Tr - 46, partly sunny, blustery NW wind with very cold look about it so started winter season with tights, vest, hat and mittens. Trail covered with leaves to extent hard to make out in spots even though we run it all the time.
Tired run, really feeling yesterday's effort. Not bad going out but hard to maintain effort coming back. Maybe the drop in weight is loss of energy reserves.

Tuesday Oct 24

Trail run tempo 2:00:00 [4] 10.0 mi (11:59 / mi) +350m 6:44 / km
weight:145lbs shoes: Attack II
Penwood Loop - 45, grey brightening as we started back, blustery. Certainly chilly. Penwood W rd to Wilcox Pk blue trail to W rd to Tarriffville. Back - Blue tr thru Wilcox, E trail and road in Penwood.

Good run. Felt good and got good stride going on open stretches though lot of trap rock trail with leaf cover hiding the sharp rocks. Pushed the stride on the uphills and felt good. Interestingly, at just about 90 minutes had a feeling of totally running out of energy and body told me to STOP! in the middle of the long climb on the E road back into Penwood. Stood there for a little bit and then started up again - Ooh! Immediately felt light headed. Stopped again, took pulse (~165) and walked a ways. Then started up again and all went well, even able to get the pace going again. Figure that the stopping allowed blood to sink to legs, away from head, by the stopping still. By getting the legs to move, even slowly, the circulation is maintained and all is well in the world.

Great run. Look forward to more long, exploring runs this winter.

Another garden afternoon - started with carrying snow tires and wheels up from basement, pulled up last of the tomato and pepper plants then turned those areas and put in more winter rye. Finished off with raking and sucking a small section of backyard. Back quite sore from sucking yesterday so didn't get to far. Anyway will wait for more of the leaves to fall. Certainly have a bumper crop of pine cones this year!
