| weight:145lbs shoes: DS Trainer X | ||
| Short Loop - 40, sunny, nice - brisk. Good run with good spring. After warmup and onto trail, did series of pickups: 5*15paces hard/25 easy, easy for 5', repeat. Second lot was on hillier horse tr end section. Good for form on leafy covered roots etc. | ||
Wednesday Nov 1 | ||
| Trail run 1:02:00 [1]6.0 mi (10:19 / mi) | ||
| weight:146lbs shoes: NB1060 | ||
| Purple Loop - 60, sunny. Sluggish effort though got a reasonable roll going mid way along. Did happen to be downhill which may just have helped a bit. | ||

| Note | ||
| As we went out the door for our morning run, we flushed a hawk from down in our front garden. It flew up to the peak of our neighbors garage and sat there a bit, working on something in its claw. Then flew to a tree in our backyard woods. Of course we tried to follow, and flushed it again. This time it flew right across the backyard overhead with a little grey animal, mouse/mole/vole, in its beak. Good job! get 'em. We're constantly fighting them away from the garden plants. | ||

| Waterfall loop, this was from the house/stretch/across Beaver Tr going out and same w/o stretch on way back. - 53, sunny, nice.
The Beaver Trail is actually the S part of Mcleans Horse Trail. In all the times we have run parts of the Horse Tr, we have never seen any horses, droppings but no horses. Until today! On the way back, half way across bump into a group of four ladies on horse doodling along. Boy can't see anything interesting about that.
| Trail run intervals 33:00 [4] | ||

| Waterfall Trail from Barn Door Hills Rd to Firetown and back - Ladder on way out: 2,3,4' with half time to recover. Spent 6.30' checking out the waterfall - lots of water for this time of year, 2" on Saturday probably contributed a lot.
Reverse Ladder coming back: 4,3,2,1' again with half time for rcy. Kind of dragging some on this, either left over from the hills Sunday or from standing around watching the kids yesterday. Still nice run. Route: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=521203

| The Hartford Track Club newsletter arrived today and included the results of members at recent races. Since 2004, they have included some kind of age related measure of the resulting times based on some kind of algorhythm. The editor took special note of the Hogback Half Marathon results in which Lyn got 91% age ranking for her time. He seemed to think this was pretty neat, esp since it was only the fourth result he has ever seen in the 90% level - all by Lyn. Of course that just gave us a goal for next year - 100+% ;-}
Unfortunately I can't claim anything similar. Seem to be more men with high time capability.

| SOM Day - cleaned gutters and struggled to remain civil.
Then went to the state xc champs at Wichkam Park, just up the road. Our local school won both team events, boys and girls. Nice job on a tough course. Area would make for a great sprint map.

| Osbornedale SP Red - 50, sunny, very windy - 40-50 mph gusts. Nice event up and down and up and down and up..... you get the idea. For a small park, a lot of up can be built into a course. Fun.
Took a bit to get going. Kind of bobble going to 1 as didn't seem to read right. Then tried to be aggressive going to 2 and got really hung up in barberry NE of pond. Should have gone a bit further and gone thru the marsh. Then went well until heading to 6 and got distracted by Petr polivka and sucked too far L. got down into more barberry and nothing looked right. Circled a bit and then found it. Rest went well. Nice outing. Good job Rich and Jim.
