| DVOA Ameet - Green X Day 1 - 70, sunny, very warm. Open woods but lots of blueberry w/o leaf. Very subtle rolling contour detail, at times hard to interpret. Generally good run but lost about 5' to #4 as drifted R. Bailed to trail and found lady with no idea of location. Spent about a minute helping her - she was way off from where she wanted to be. Lost another 2' when stopped short going to 6. And some more time at 15 and 16. Saw 15 but shure didn't look like a reentrant.

| Trail run warm up/down 1:00 [1] | ||
| shoes: Attack II | ||
| Easy jog over to start of sprints, trying to get knees to bend. | ||
| Orienteering race 15:32 [4]*** 1.75 km (8:53 / km) +10m 8:38 / km | ||
| spiked:11/12c shoes: Attack II | ||
| Batato Sprint B - Good fun run. Gave John F a minute and took him to #4 to pass and disappear into the green. Clean except 9 - think left trail too soon and missed to R trying to pick veg which seemed much more open in patches than mapped. Bailed W to trail and spotted depression on way in very open woods though mapped as green. | ||
| Orienteering race 8:38 [4]*** 1.3 km (6:38 / km) +5m 6:31 / km | ||
| spiked:9/10c shoes: Attack II | ||
| Batona 500 Sprint A - Getting tired but fun sprint. Fast. Only problem was leaving 7 - looked up and saw control in a depression. As got closer, realized was across road. Wrong number. Turned around and saw depression 40m back. Ran right by. | ||
Day 1 Green X - Splits | ||
Thursday Nov 9 | ||
| Trail run 40:00 [1]3.0 mi (13:19 / mi) | ||
| weight:145lbs shoes: DS Trainer X | ||
| Esker loop (formerly known as the Short Loop, renamed because much of it goes along the top of a really neat esker - duh!) - 65, sunny, wet - leaves, roots, trail from rain all yesterday. The little stream we cross has risen 12-18", over its little banks in places. Who needs shuffles when you can hear the riffles of the water.
Nice run. 2 sets of 5*(15 hard paces/25 easy) with 5' in between.

Wednesday Nov 8 | ||
| Strength (nycb 2) 55:00 [1] | ||
| weight:146lbs | ||
| Normal routine on a rainy morning.
R hip/butt has been bothering for the past month or so, more a niggling ache than anything significant - yet. Will have to keep tabs. Now focus on Dec as R&R month. Try to get the ails under control.

Tuesday Nov 7 | ||
| Trail run 45:00 [1] | ||
| weight:146lbs shoes: NB1060 | ||
| Short Purple loop - 50, grey sun. Sluggish run, just couldn't get going - heavy legs and light head, not a good combination. Must start the less anti-oxidant compaign.
Route - Purple to Spring Pond, around to final horse tr section then cut up reentrant to Poet's Corner Rd, down to Munni Woods (fox sighting) and home.
| Note | ||
| Sighting: On the way home, just as I entered the back side of Munnisunk Woods, flushed a red fox from perhaps a resting hole. He popped up to check out the noise approaching and then slunk off in the other direction. Very pretty. | ||

| Orienteering 1:45:00 [1]** 7.15 km (14:41 / km) +125m 13:30 / km | ||
| weight:148lbs shoes: Attack II | ||
| Crandalls - 55, sunny, cool in shade. Exploring this area for our new mapping area. Nice area - From the newly paved tennis courts (in process) to Red Tr loop then an Orange trail that followed the N property bndy up and over hill to atv trails. Went N to end of atv then back to junc. Continued a bit till tr headed S, we bushwacked W to bndy, down across stream and up W hill to bndy and backyards. Headed back E on trail thru either an old halloween yard with the gremlins out of their graves or perk pits. Nice that this woods seems to have been saved. Across brook again, around pond and hit yellow tr, followed it on its S loop around to pkg.
Nice woods overall with lots of interesting features, seems to be good trail network and great facilities - pkg, playing fields, pavillions, swimming pond, and easy access to I-84. We went most of the run before we hit some mt laurel, otherwise really open. Good find.
Sunday Nov 5 | ||
| Orienteering (Control pickup and map up) 2:00:00 [1]*** | ||
| weight:145lbs shoes: Salomon XA Pro | ||
| Sessions Woods - 40, sunny, nice fall day. Picked up the S section of controls from Sat with various excursions into parts of the map untrod upon for a while. Some sections have grown out and become less green, but others have grown thicker and turned decidedly crappy. There will be a few updates coming along, but unfortunately we have a large supply of maps on hand. Will have to go back to copying courses for a while. | ||
