Event: WCOC Ansonia Nature Center meet

Trail run warm up/down 5:00 [1]
weight:146lbs shoes: VJ Integrator
Jogging around to loosen up, but not enough.
Orienteering race 1:15:26 [4]*** 6.2 km (12:10 / km) +190m 10:33 / km
spiked:8/13c shoes: VJ Integrator
Ansonia Red - 55, sunny, wet, great open woods, Not enough warm up and badly boomed 2 after bad route to 1 with major fall in a rock field - bashed both knees, dead stick tried to poke side, scratch L arm and face was headed straight at a jagged sharp rock. Nice start. Settled in then but took some real round about routes.

Great course by Sergei and Greg. Thanks.
C • I really enjoyed this map. I d... 4
Orienteering race 39:40 [4]*** 4.1 km (9:40 / km)
spiked:12/13c shoes: VJ Integrator
Ansonia Short - Much better run. Kept good track of position and was careful. Bad route to 13 (should probably go R of line) got hung up in all sorts of slow junk.

Another fun course in really tricky terrain.

[Edit - Changed distance. May have done the classic Gari conversion! ]

Red - Splits

Friday Nov 24

Hiking 1:25:00 [1]
weight:147lbs
Masters School land by Simbury Reservoir - 50, sunny (day late for nice weather). Exploring new Land Trust area. A BS mentioned he wanted to do a permanent course here - good luck. Pretty trashy woods and not much in the way of features. But a nice hike all the same.

Thursday Nov 23

Note
Manchester Road Race
Road run warm up/down 20:00 [1]
weight:146lbs shoes: DS Trainer X
MRR - 35, had been raining but let up during this warmup. Jogged around back streets, stretched, and went over to say Hi to the guys at the keg - which was good as was pouring too hard to get back out of the car plus cold, going hypothermic. Then jogged up to our start holding pen to wait for about 20'.
Road run race 34:09 [4]4.75 mi (7:11 / mi) vdot: 44.9
shoes: DS Trainer X
Manchester Road Race - 35, drizzle started back up as waited for the gun, then gradually got harder during the race but didn't notice at that point. Rain plus temp made it very cold very quickly afterwards though so headed for the car and then home.

Good run. Felt ok for first mile, 2nd mile hill seemed to go on but again was ok. Ran good 3rd down, but the long Porter St seemed to take forever. Tried some strides on Center St - push the grassy center strip, ease off a bit between - as a diversion, and then just downhill to the finish.

Good result - about 40" faster than last year. Splits: 6.48, 8.10, 6.55, 7.03, 5.13
Lyn was about 34.58 [chip time 34.37], also about 40" faster plus she should get an <35' card next year.
Note
MRR results came out this morning. Lyn renewed her First Place in F60 with her nicely improved run from last year.
I got 5th once again but with a 3-4' margin to the leaders as opposed to only seconds in the past. Amby Burfoot won the class with 30.47. Too many kids coming along. Will really have to work for next year.
C • Manchester RR 1

Wednesday Nov 22

Road run 31:31 [2]3.0 mi (10:30 / mi)
weight:145lbs shoes: NB1060
Beaver Loop - 32, grey, looks like rain (heavy) for Manchester. Ugh.
Road run to get legs going. Threw in some strides, speed and pushed hill. Felt pretty good. Will see how it goes tomorrow.

Could be interesting - Amby Burfoot graduated to my class this year and Bill Rodgers will in 2 years. So more kids to push me further down the list.

Tuesday Nov 21

Trail run (Therapy) 39:52 [1]3.0 mi (13:16 / mi)
weight:146lbs shoes: NB1060
Esker loop - 35, clear, lots of leaves on trail providing hidden traps for onsuspecting ankles. Threw in a few strides to get the legs going.

Afternoon run after TwM to get her teeth patched. So this was a much needed communig with nature.

Monday Nov 20

Note
weight:146lbs
MwM - draining

Sunday Nov 19

Trail run 1:01:00 [1]6.0 mi (10:09 / mi)
weight:146lbs shoes: DS Trainer X
Purple loop - 45, grey, trails dried out nicely. Even water level down.
Good long steady run. Lyn pretty perky and kept us going, tho at times we both had urges to ease.
