Sunday Mar 25

Road run warm up/down 10:00 [1]
weight:146lbs shoes: DS Trainer X
Collinsville - jog up bike path to loosen up. Forgot after and tightened up some, foot cramped as leaving. Did stretch a bit a home. Bad boy.
Road run race 1:28:35 [4] 11.1 mi (7:59 / mi) +190m 4:43 / km vdot: 42.3
shoes: DS Trainer X
Collinsville Bake-Off, part of HTC Winter Series - 40, grey, little bit of ice on corners.
Two loops from Bakery ccw along bike path, up 202, around reservoir and across dam, down to start. Grab a drink and do it again. Turned into a good run. First loop seemed endless but maybe the gatorade kicked in as had a good 2nd loop and able to push the 202 hill (1 mile long) and continue a good pace. First loop: 45.17; 2nd 43.18.
Lyn had a good run at 1.29.50.
We both took 3.44 off of our other time running this 3/6/07.

Ran with the FR and had trouble several times hitting the wrong button for splits - hit Stop instead. The FR has the buttons switched from all previous watches I've used and it must be something about "teached old dogs new tricks". So lost a few second along the way trying to correct the fumble-fingers.

Add Splits:
Loop 1: 7.46, 8.05, 8.32, 7.50, 7.34, 4.32
Loop 2: 7.18, 8.02, 8.28, 7.33, 7.22, 4.30

Saturday Mar 24

Road run 32:00 [1] 3.0 mi (10:40 / mi)
weight:147lbs shoes: NB1060
Beaver Loop - 45, sunny. Easy get the legs moving run in prep for 11 mi race tomorrow. Easy jog out (well actually we seemed to get going fairly spritely), stretched, then series of strides: 2 x 5x15 paces/30 paces, and jog home. The strides were a good distraction as still bit tired from the snow run.

Thursday Mar 22

Trail run intervals (Snow run) 49:35 [4]
weight:146lbs shoes: VJ Pro 1
Mcleans Picnic Grd - 40, sunny. We thought the snow would still be hard, like when we stopped by yesterday afternoon to check it. But overnight temps must have stayed in the 40s and the snow was quite soft. Still about a foot or so in the woods/side of trail. Even brought the skis in case it would have been better and still in good ski condition.

From the Picnic grd, the track was well packed out with foot traffic and soft. Would make for nice skiing. Headed up and over ski hill and around St Zotique around loop and by fields. Ski hill was beat up but a good ski track remained on the rest. So we ran, or tried to run, using the snowshoe or foot tracks beside the ski track, just in case someone might want to try. Also we keep abusing the phantom people that walk the track so...

This turned out to be HARD!! Like running on a slippery beach. After yesterday's repeats this was to be an easy day - not hardly. Wound up able to run for 4-5' and take a break, then continue. Fields were packed out but probably could have just started a new track in the fields. Nothing but warmth in the forecast, so will be going quickly.

Wednesday Mar 21

Road run warm up/down 28:00 [1]
ahr:125 max:172 weight:147lbs shoes: DS Trainer X
Jogging out to warmup/stretch/ a few strides. Then a slow slog trying to crawl home. 30, sunny, no wind.
Road run intervals (w hills) 39:35 [4]
ahr:159 max:172 shoes: DS Trainer X
Barn Door Hills Rd along stretch from Holcomb to Simsbury Rd up to gate. Idea: 5x 4.30' (3.20' rcy) Two routes:
1. S - from Simsbury Rd to Holcomb. First half flatish then 50ft climb, about 1000 m.
2. N - from bridge up to Mcleans gate. Same flat first half, then 70' climb, about 950m.
Gee, these things are hard! A real slog. Legs would get heavy on climbs at ends. Basically able to do same distance over the same time intervals, even though some felt harder. Still - was nice to run through the pretty countryside once again.
Note
AOW/ON (that's without) - The hawk that was hanging around last week seems to have continued on his journey. Did see one during the run, but none hanging around here and enjoying the local critters. Too bad as we have plenty to spare.

Tuesday Mar 20

Road run 31:00 [1] 3.0 mi (10:19 / mi)
weight:146lbs shoes: NB1060
Beaver Loop - 40, strong W wind, sunny. Easy recovery run to try to get the body back to running after 3 days of skiing. That's probably it for the season as nothing but warmth in the forecast. And now we're in the in between season of bad skiing but too much snow to run in the woods. Just have to run through the countryside for a bit.

Monday Mar 19

Skiing (xc) 1:00:00 [1]
weight:146lbs shoes: Fischer Hobacks
Mcleans Main Ent - 40, grey sun. Snow had softened up slightly from morning sun but still pretty solid. Track not too bad. Mostly intact though two sets of footprints had chopped it up all the way out. Went out St Zotique to bridge and back. So trip back was better. This was a pretty sluggish outing. Tired from weekend and headed along slowly, but was still a good therapy session.
