Orienteering race 1:24:15 [4] *** 6.57 km (12:49 / km) +237m 10:52 / km
spiked:10/14c shoes: VJ Integrator
Team Trial Day 3 - 55, breezy and cool at start, sunny.
Generally good run with a few bobbles, mainly getting caught up in green at a couple points, like leaving 9 to get to campground (as if we couldn't see all the green from our tent), and approaching 12.

Again quite different from home terrain with the depression/hill woods. Green not that different for the most part.

Fun course. 1st M60; 7th Green X (today and for the 2 days.)

Great job on courses and meet. Thanks to SMOC. Do another one soon!
Orienteering warm up/down 30:00 [2]
shoes: VJ Integrator
TT Day 3, Pontiac Lk, MI - Run to start. We were going to take Steven to start but he seemed to have gone on while we were getting ready. Not around the campsite so jog to start. No Steven. Ok, jog back to car. Ah there's Steven; had gone to check out Finish. Good idea. We jog back to start. Steven jogs along quite well, discussing the event, Gu other things until we decide to walk final little hill. Was good as needed the extra to get body going.

Note: Campers in next row must have been enjoying Cinqo de Mayo. They had their computer music list playing during the evening and nattering away. Fortunately they decided to turn in - at 3:30! Could tell this was an RV type campground and everyone else was bundled inside. Ours was the only tent we saw.
Note
After a longish drive back across Ont, checked into our friendly Super 8 overlooking Lake-O and then headed out for some fine pizzasumption at Boston Pizza. Tuscan pizza - very nice.

Orienteering warm up/down 20:00 [1]
shoes: VJ Pro 1
Team Trial Day 2 - 65, greyish. Long run to start, stretch, run back and forth along gravel pit lip.
Orienteering race 1:07:12 [4] *** 5.54 km (12:08 / km) +240m 9:58 / km
spiked:10/16c shoes: VJ Pro 1
Team Trial Day 2, Peach Mt, MI - Very careful run. Tried to find safe routes. Not used to the spur/reentrant type terrain. Slight bobble at 2, just a bit to L, moved and found it; 3 up middle spur and then found it; 6 - crossed reentrant high and circled back and down reentrant; 9 - too R in junk woods and misread downslope to control; 11- off trail too L into wrong reentrant (also not best of routes); 14 - changed attack at final approach and blew it.

1st M60; 7th Green
Fun course

Day 2: Blue/Green - Splits

Friday May 4

Event: US Team Trials

Road run warm up/down 20:00 [1]
shoes: Attack II
Running to start and around to get ready for sprint.
Orienteering race 16:43 [4] *** 2.2 km (7:36 / km) +55m 6:45 / km
spiked:9/11c shoes: Attack II
Team Trial Sprint - Green - 65, sunny. Haven Hill, MI. Badly boomed 2 - thought was on trail approaching control (N/S) when actually was on main trail (E/W). Went off to attack in total wrong area/direction. Caught by a Lyn cough going the proper way. Still took a bit to figure out. Not focussing on map and trying to go to fast in easy trail area. Rest ok

1st M60; 7th on green course.

Thursday May 3

Road run 35:00 [1]
shoes: Attack II
Along shore of Lake O in Grimsby, Ont. Ran thru the radio towers to get a bit of high freq uplift. Did a couple of let's run to the corner or to the sign. So flat that distances are deceptive and sign never seems to get any closer. Not sure I could run much in flat open countryside. Sunny and 60ish.
Note
Walked around the campground in the middle of the map ( pont lk). Sure looks green in the woods near the campsites. And for little hills, they get steep.

AOWN: Two Sandhill Cranes came groarking into the open space near the ranger check-in station. Thought they were flamingos, but wrong beaks and color. Really strange noise.

Wednesday May 2

Note
After long drive, nice evening by the Lake O with yummy pizzasumption to get ready for the weekend.

Tuesday May 1

Trail run 1:07:00 [1] 6.0 mi (11:09 / mi)
weight:148lbs shoes: DS Trainer XII
Purple loop - 55, sunny. Thought this might be speed work out, but as soon as started realized it wasn't there. Became a real slog. Entire body was groggy and didn't want to move much. Plus back never loosened up and acted up all the way. So was kind of going gingerly and made the most of several breaks to "enjoy" the woods.

Could be a long drive.
Strength 10:00 [1]
Stretching and crunches after running and coffee to try to loosen back a bit or tighten abs more to even things out. Not really improving today - more vit I.

Monday Apr 30

Strength (nycb 2) 55:00 [1]
weight:147lbs
Felt good. Helped to work out some of the weekend kinks, so the stretching was very useful.

My lower back has been seizing up since the control pickup run at the Deluge-O. It's ok once loosened up and moving around, but gets tight sitting like driving, on the couch etc. (I know - get your butt off the couch - Slug. Get that from Lyn so you're not helping.) Not really looking forward to the Michigan drive.
