Event: Paugussett SP Local

Trail run warm up/down 5:00 [1]
weight:145lbs shoes: VJ Integrator
Really just trying to loosen up as standing around was more than enough to warm up - hot! but gutr worked nicely.
Orienteering race 1:55:37 [4]*** 6.4 km (18:04 / km) +315m 14:30 / km
spiked:9/15c shoes: VJ Integrator
Paugussett Red - 85, humid, summer but still mainly nice woods.
This was one of the humbling experiences that O brings to life. Had a really nice run going, reading the map well and in contact. Running well, not fast yet but still an improvement from recent weeks. Felt good. Then the O gods struck - first slightly short on 4 but recognized it and got it. Then veered to R going into 5 and checked out several rocky knolls before hitting the next wall and locating. 6 fine, 7 stopped too soon but recognized it. Then took a soft route to 8 and paid. Relocated on the small knoll above 4, UGH! Hit 9, 10, 11, 12 and hit the road to approach 13 - miss it by swinging too R and staying too high. Circle around to the top trying to relocate on the featureless area I started in (? what am I thinking???) Finally drop down above it but still too high when Peter Polivka drops down the hill and to it. Thanks Rest ok.

Bad news is the big blister on the L heel. Too many socks and feet swell in the summer? Same combination that has been ok all spring.

AOWN: In the wanderings looking for 13, I flushed a fawn out of a rocky area (no fauns today). New I must be way off if it was still hunkered down.
Note
After a long and pleasant post-event afternoon with the MD and control picker-uppers, we stopped at the Ice Cream Shop in Newtown for energy food for the ride home. Nice surprise to be given a cone on the house in honor of Father's Day. All the more enjoyable after nice visits from both off-spring during the last week.

Red - Splits

Cycling (Road) 1:31:00 [2]21.5 mi (4:14 / mi)
weight:145lbs
N Granby-Quarry Rd-Copper Hill-Bike path-Buttles - 65, sunny. Nice ride through the diminishing countryside. Still quite a few farms left. Wonder how much longer.

Friday Jun 15

Strength (nycb 2) 55:00 [1]
weight:146lbs
Early morn - Sure don't have a morning body! Could barely touch mid-shin during the first round of toe touches. Very stiff.

Afternoon spent turning and spreading compost. That loosened up the back, but will be tight tomorrow.

Thursday Jun 14

Stretching 10:00 [0]
weight:147lbs
Morning and after run.
Trail run long 1:10:00 [2]6.0 mi (11:40 / mi)
shoes: DS Trainer XII
Horse Tr - Reverse Purple Loop to Horse - 63, overcast, humid. Nice run, seem to be getting some form back, not slapping L forefoot. So got into some nice stretches with good flow. Not for terribly long as seem to have lost a bit of fitness with this. Better to have some form and slightly less fitness than the injury though.
Stretching 5:00 [0]
Another quick session after dinner, ugh - full stomach, and mowing the grass. Seems to help/

Wednesday Jun 13

Note
weight:148lbs (rest day)
AOWN A doe and 2 fauns strolled thru the back woods during the mid-day news. Kept going and ignored any more of the lettuce/broccolli.
Jim - you missed them. Half hour after.
C • fauns 5
Stretching 10:00 [1]
Morning and evening sessions. Seems to be helping. need the book to get the form correct.

Tuesday Jun 12

Stretching 5:00 [1]
weight:147lbs
Morning after getting up. Seemed to be helping. Able to walk around and not be bothered. Also a bit after the run.
Trail run 1:00:00 [1]
shoes: DS Trainer XII
Mcleans - 75, clear, damp in woods from over night rains. Road out to TH and stretch. Horse tr to bridge, to Spring Pond, Purple tr ccw, back to bridge and horse tr home. Trying to minimize road running.

Took a fair while to get going. L hip very cranky and didn't want to move smoothly for a running stride. Gradually warmed up by stretch pt but road run to there was uncomfortable. Then trail running was good, though slow easy pace. Nice to enjoy the woods. Even got into reasonable stride when we got back onto rd home.
Note
AOWN: Lots of mossies about when we stopped but not biting badly. First FDF sighting though - landed on my elbow, but not for long;-} One down.

Monday Jun 11

Note
weight:146lbs
MwM - Work session with a full help crew in attendance - got the kiddies to earn their keep. Spent the afternoon clipping hedges (well over grown), emptying gutters (flooding over), general weeding until everyone pooped out and had to get M back from her "stress test". Generally good day.

Now to try to program the new digital cable box!!!#%&@*
C • too much house 6
Stretching (Baltering) 10:00 [1]
weight:146lbs
Morning first thing and again late afternoon when we got home.
