Orienteering 2:00:00 [1] ***
shoes: Salomon XA 2
Paso Coe - Training map for 5 Giorno. Hiked around map with Dave and Lyn checking out mapping and terrain. Really neat area with interesting details not usually found in our area like many ditches (otherwise known as trenches), many lined with stone to look like stone walls. Also depressions, caves and other associated ruined works that probably traces back 100 yrs to fortifications between Italy and Austria when they weren't always so friendly.

Finished by meeting up with Barb who hiked up to the area, very ambitious, for refreshments on the terrace;-)

Still waiting for Rick and Susie to arrive. Hope their travels go better than ours, a trip that can wait for another logging.
C • Hey, glad you made it. Be smar... 2
C • Third place for Lyn! And good ... 2

Friday Jun 29

Trail run 35:00 [1] 3.0 mi (11:40 / mi)
weight:147lbs shoes: DS Trainer XII
Bonus Run - Should be enjoying German beer at this instant but able to get in a run instead.

Beaver Trail - 65, grey, humid, lot cooler than the last few days. But L hip ached all the way out. Bit better coming back. Foot drop was also annoying.

Probably would have enjoyed the beer more.

Thursday Jun 28

Hiking 1:00:00 [1]
weight:146lbs shoes: Salomon XA Pro
Mowing - 80, humid, sweating like a pig (do pigs really sweat?). Last clean up of lawn, turn compost, Lyn put house plants out under the trees. Watering veggies, or dripping them now for maybe another half hour. Then it's off for fun and sun.
Note
The adventure starts - Checked flight status just before leaving for BDL and saw CANCELLED next to the flight. Now talking with USAIR (travelocity just gave me a recording) and he's rerouting me through New Haven both ways. Fun!
Note
Cancel #2 - Got all the way to NH only to find Canceled on the Schedule Board. At least there were only 2 other guys in the entire departure area (there is only USAir and Pan Am flying there.) but one was really slow getting rebooked. Eventually talked to an agent who groaned when told about going there from Hartford as they warned them PHI flights were canceled. Bad storms down there. Threats in CT but only a few sprinkles in all our travels to NH and back though there was .25" in the rain gauge when we got home after treating ourselves to dinner at the Brew Pub;-}

So now we try tomorrow but leave 4 hours earlier to catch the same flight to Munich. And still trying to sort out train schedule over there. There are benefits to being able to drive to the many events we have in the NE.

Wednesday Jun 27

Trail run 57:00
weight:148lbs shoes: DS Trainer XII
Same route as Tues - 80, humid. Hot even though was an earlier start. That means we tangle with the commuting traffic on the short bit of road run - but not that big a deal.

Good run though L hip was more achy. Was able to get a good stride going with only a bit of foot drop and got a good pace as well. Started to feel ok.

AOWN: FDFs are starting to hatch and appear in force. Lots more than yesterday and more persistent in tangling in the hair. Still slow tho and able to nab a bunch.

On the plus side of running early, we sat on the front porch cooling off afterwards watching all our neighbors head off to work. A very pleasant experience.
C • When are you leaving? Tomorrow... 2

Tuesday Jun 26

Trail run 55:00 [1]
weight:146lbs shoes: DS Trainer XII
Horse to Purple to Spring Pond - 78, very humid even early (for us). Hard to believe we were cold at Charlie's 2 days ago.
Easy run - me to test things; seem to be getting better. and Lyn to test her knee - she bruised it Sunday with several collisions in the ferns and has a bump over the Patella and softness under it. She was able to run ko on the trails once we got going (awake) but bothered when we got back on the pavement for the last bit home.

Despite the higher temp was a nice run. Felt almost comfortable.
Note
AOWN: As we were coming down the road home (1/2 mile to go), a neighbor stopped her car to tell us a bear just crossed the road from our yard and disappeared. Ooops Lyn had put out the feeders already. But he mustn't have liked the flavor as they were left alone. Another neighbor just told us that it was big.
Stretching 5:00 [0]
After running, trying to cool down laying on our concrete front porch. Nice.
Note
AOWN: During the morning run, was buzzed by a small fleet of FDFs, non-attacking but there. One managed to get into my hair but no bites. Not yet necessary to invoke the Blue Hat Special, perhaps when we get back if they're still around.
