| Osbornedale SP - 60, clear, very early - didn't think the day started this early! Hanging controls. Good thing I was not competing, at least this early. Could not focus too well on map as was still pretty gloomy, my eyes were only half open and the printing was less than meet quality. Stumbled around my assigned controls, passing right by the feature, with streamer, in several cases. Worse still - struggled to get the body into even a half jog.
Woods in this section were pretty crappy. Lots of deadfall from the hemlock scungeof recent years made for difficult moving, esp at my glacial pace. Headed back in and ran into Peter, merrily chugging along like a youngster, and then Rick also doing quite well. These woods were very nice, much more like Scotland. Had a great time all weekend with the Sprints and Relays. Was real fun seeing a great set of competitions being enjoyed by such a great group.

| Purple tr via horse tr (even encountered 2 horses) - 70, clear, starting to get humid.
Great run. Start slowly, as happens these days, but managed to make it to the stretch point and loosened up some more. Put in several surge along esker trail, and after the Spring Pd turn-off Lyn got frisky and tool off. Worked to catch up and we had a strong run down below the summit and back. Finally struggled on the road stretch home trying to catch up. Good solid effort in spurts, but long way from needed shape.

| 10300 - Whoa! The magic number came and went without notice. Guess we'll just have to consume the grand prize this weekend. | ||

| W Simsbury-Firetown loop - 65, clear, slight headwind going out.
This seemed hard. Still was a nice morning to be out.

| Pumping tires, this must count. Decided to check car tire pressure while pumping up the bike tires. The first was 19.5 psi instead of 32! OOPS - so started pumping and checking. All were way down, as were the tires on Lyn's car. Ugh! Actually getting the stupid gauge to read without leaking everything was almost as hard as the pumping, definitely more frustrating. | ||

| More AOWN moment today. We had a visitor this morning. Thought they liked it cool and dark. | ||

| Trail run 1:00:00 [2] | ||
| weight:142lbs shoes: NB1060 | ||
| Purple loop from the horse tr, then by Spring Pond - 60, clear, dry. Just keep it up for 4 more days!
Nice run. Felt reasonably good and had a few nice surges on the woods roads with Lyn stride for stride. She didn't enjoy the run she says - still recovering from her second round in the dentist chair yesterday. Him pushing and shoving on her jaw made it quite sore and barely had recovered from the first round.

| Spent an hour or so this after pulling up Lamium (?) that is running rampant around some azaleas in the front. Was trying to be careful as we've had wasp nests in this patch in by-gone years. Saw no sign of them and merrily pulled away. Towards the end felt a stick poke my neck, but there was no stick. Now a continuing irritation. Guess one got me today too. | ||

| Mcleans - Plan was to do 2-3' hard ups if terrain allowed with appropriate rcy/ 4-5x.
Was able to get 6 x in from 2' to start up a steep hill, a couple 3' along flat ridge but dodging lots of stuff. These didn't do much for the hr got to AHR 136 for these first three. Found a longer hill for 2 more of 2' each with AHR getting to 149 and then a final one for 1.35, getting to 148. Limit was running into thickish green or cresting the rise. But found some nice areas. Would be a great area for a BG if we could map it which unfortunately, we can't. So great day in the woods and managed to get back down the hills getting almost to the car. Thought I was off R but was actually L. Stood within sight of the road, not seeing the car, pondering the map, when a bug flew by! And then realized there was a funny sensation on my leg - wasps!!! Swat, swat! Run. Was good for 3 stings on R leg - 2 on back of calf, 1 on back of thigh. Bit irritated now and expect more itching to come.
