| Joe's Du-O at Huntington - 55, very wet, hard rain at times. Still nice conditions.
Sloppy run, didn't concentrate quite right. Started too fast, not focussing on map and a plan for first control. Ran road and went around W end of fence thinking it was the gap 50m on, so off on attack to control and gradually worked way to feature. 5 - overshot, which seems to be the story of the day as many others did as well. Finally stood on the next ridge and saw bag back a hill. And fumbled 10 looking down at walls and trail of unknown character until I saw Pavi's umbrella in the start zone.
| Orienteering race 1:45:28 [2] *** 7.4 km (14:15 / km) | ||
| spiked:15/16c shoes: VJ Integrator | ||
| Joe's Du-O - Still raining. Glasses started to fog up during this run. At times the rain was hard enough to flush the fog off. Then it stopped for a while and was dry enough not to fog.
Good run. Only bobble was last control, B2, which must have gone right by. Continued another 75m until saw lake and turned to it. Rest were right on. Nice running in fine woods. Some of the woods were such a pleasure to run, it was difficult not to go out again, or stay out. But I wound up 5' over with the last few a judgement as to whether would get them or not. Kept adding controls as time seemed to remain. Skipped 4 in the end, the 3 extremes and one in the middle. Fun day. Thanks Brautigams.

| Next installment on raking and sucking leaves, all afternoon. If the arms don't get shot from the raking, then the back goes from leaning over and swinging the sucker, and carrying wet leaves to the mulch pile. To make matters worse, there are still lots up in the trees. A slight breeze went by as I finished the front. It was like they were laughing at us with the flurry of leaves dropping. With the rain scheduled for tonight and tomorrow during the Du-O, lots more should be down by Sunday. | ||

| Trail run long 1:36:00 [2] ** 8.6 km (11:10 / km) +245m 9:46 / km | ||

| Bolton Notch - 55, damp, sunny, lots of leaves on trails. Still lots on trees so pretty run.
Started at commuter lot and ran thru entrance to old drive-in. (I remember sneaking in over the hill back in hs.) Along Blue tr onto rail trail to shelter. Checked it out. Headed W and up on various trails eventually getting to end of Box Mt Rd at tower. Back onto various trails along Notch to ridge and hit another Blue tr (?). Ran this down till could see Risley Res and turned onto various other woods roads back up to ridge line to other side of drive-in. E side of ridge thick with laurel and steep. W side mostly nice open woods with more gradual slope. Stopped by M to see if Jamaicans in Spain would drop off her $5Mill check, for a measley processing fee of $1k. Arghh! They never stop.

| Trail run 50:00 [1] | ||
| weight:145lbs shoes: Attack II | ||
| Horse tr to Spring Pd to Munnisunk Wds backway home - 72, greyish, humid.
Sluggish run with hip hurting so cut it short at Spring pd as Lyn went full loop. Nice bruise developing on side of hip from flip fall at Pond Mt. Of course would land on bad hip.

| MoW - Hardly a rest day - more of a waste day. Spent day trying to take the front lock apart and then squirting in white graphite when that wasn't possible. Seemed to get it to work more freely and can at least unlock the dead bolt. Then chipped out the broken glass pane and old putty where the friendly neighbor eventually gained access. Got a replacement pane and goobered that in. All this while Lyn tried to get the wounds to air and dry a bit before putting on new dressings. Then she mowed the lawn to get some quietness. Maybe we'll hit the brew pub tonight;-] | ||

| Lots aches keeping surfacing as try to move around this very slow Sunday morning. All this to get a phone call that M locked herself out of the house. Not totally her fault as the door has a wonky lock that can stick. But she has every other possible entrance bolted and locked, so no possible alternative way in. A neighbor broke a window to gain access. Guess the broken wrist didn't help..... | ||
