| For a beautiful day, it was rather nothing training wise as mostly hanging around playing nursemaid, esp Lyn. So to try to keep her from going batty, I hung around, putzed in the garden a bit. This whole experience certainly highlights the true aspect of "feeling old" and allows reflection. It completely reinforces the continued importance of activities such as ours, anything to get out the door, get the body moving, the joints jointing or whatever they do, and especially keep it going for balance. That's one of the first things that is so noticeable. The sedentary life style pretty much negates any balance leaving only a basic tottering to get around. We don't have much sympathy for that and have forced some walking around and no taking naps at every instant. We got her to walk a bit around the Picnic Ground, Mcleans, yesterday and Lyn took her up the street and back today, maybe 400m each way. Not a lot but probably the most for many years. And she has learned how to use her cane for stability rather than clutch on to anything around or crab along. Slight amount of progress, unwilling though it is. |

 | Trail run (fartlek) 55:00 [2] | |
| weight:143lbs shoes: Mizuno Inspire |
| Purple Loop - 50, clear, dry, cool
Went back and ran the old route as it was cold in the woods where we normally stop to stretch. Went up to a sunny spot by the gate. Nice run, for the most part. Steady with a series of strides thrown in trying to break the background thought processes and get to concentrate on the just the beautiful woods at hand. Difficult though and we're both getting thin. May be on the way to a resolution; we'll see Monday. It's like getting out for a nice run - take it one step at a time. |

| Sometimes it takes a personal experience to bring the economic situation home. For the last 8 years or so I have been getting the club registration cards made up at a little local print shop back in the corner of a little shopping mall. For the initial order they were well under the other shops I checked, did a nice job quickly. Always seemed busy when I went in, which wasn't too often as an order lasted for a couple years. A husband - wife team, very pleasant to work with.
There was an article last month on the difficult situation in the print industry in CT with lots of shops cutting back or going out of business. I pulled up to place the order, only to see an empty store front. Only dust. No sign of life. The pizza shop next door knew nothing. Bummer. Trickle down economics finally did. Four more years anyone? |

| Horse Tr - St Zotique loop - 50, clear, dry late summer, early fall conditions. Nice running.
Tried a long tempo effort from Canton Rd tr hd by Main Gate to bridge. Triedto throw in some extra surges but that for one and settled on trying to hold the pace.(25:24) watched the water for 30" or so then worked way up hill. Ran the flat stretch to the next bridge hard again and then the final road section. Nice effort but solo again as Lyn was taking M off for blood work. |

| Long afternoon in garden starting the fall clear up: cut back more rhodies and then chipped them and the piles from earlier whenever, turned over compost piles and the first sections of veg garden rows where squash and cukes were before the bugs and borers got them. Garden starting to look a bit dismal. Fall/winter is not far off. |

| Blisters seem to have solidified so run was fine with good shoes. Won't wear those shoes again with that inner sole and will have to look carefully at O shoes for the NAs. |
