Easy morning one, legs took a while to get moving this morning, and when they did it was nothing special. But everything clicking alright outside of some slightly heavy legs. Listening to Road to Nowhere. Also listened to Toni's IOC memories montage, lots of good nuggets, highlight being Darren reminiscing about CNOC butchering an IOC relay last leg, didn't catch which year he was on about though.

Easy along the crater rim with Ben. Nice not to have as much climb, legs / quads fairly tired. Swim afterwards did them good. Might shakeout jog later as well, shall see.

Nice long run round Mt. Oxford. Ben still nursing niggles, so solo this week. Ben & Anne had cycled out, and Ben was going up Oxford too, thought I might have time to drop down to Wharfeldale hut and come back the forest trails from there, but it would have been 31k or so, and when I could see Ben only 15mins or so behind me near the top of Oxford I knew they'd be waiting a while at the car if I did. So, dropped back down to Ben to get a little more climb going up Oxford again, then headed off the other side and looped back round towards the car. Windy out top, feeling good early on but legs did tire a little after 2hrs or so.

15 x 1min hills [45”]
Some shorter power reps. Trying to get the shorter reps going again recently, but similarly to Tuesday, was wanting to keep it easier on the legs, so power hills seemed like a good shout. Legs & lungs working, so must have been some good in it, though not sure I was going quick enough to really get speedwork benefits out of it, even if it was uphill. Still, good session done, 45sec recovery was fairly tough. Back down the farm track for another decent dusk glow, not quite Tuesday though.

Easy loop up Huntsbury and down the farm track, nice out. Feeling the legs a tiny bit early on, but feeling quite good as it went on. I may have passed Nick Hann at the end of this run, but we were passed each other before I realised, and I was far from confident enough to shout back and make an introduction. In hindsight, I suspect he was going too slow to be Nick, otherwise, like myself, he is a fan of the slow easy runs.

Chilling about listening to a couple of rich roll episodes - kilian's from ages ago + scott fauble's from last year.

Rapaki Uphill Tempos - 20min [8'30 down], 15min.
Decided to do an uphill session to be a tad kinder on the legs than the normal tempos. Legs have been feeling alright the last few days, but still conscious I've not been mad easy on them, so felt a little caution would be no harm. Rolled through the first rep up to the top of Rapaki, for about 21'30 of effort, jogged back down a ways, then came back up, and continued up along the summit road. Good session, feeling decent, think I got the efforts about right as the 2nd rep started on a flat-ish bit and I was moving fairly similar pace to the normal tempos. Working reasonably well anyway, but still plenty left. Would be nice to be able to get a bit more hill work in without having to do such a long recovery, but such is always the way I guess.
Dream time to be in the hills as I finished. Quiet as it got dark, and a stunning dusky orange glow over the Southern Alps in the horizon. Added to the session to make this just a great run altogether.
