Invited some friends to go XC skiing. Only one took me up. He has owned skis for several months, but had never been skiing. A few laps around the practice area and he wanted to do the toughest loop at Carver. I had never been to Carver, so I didn't know any better. An easy ski with a few lesson spots.... then down the big hill. I had a little pucker factor going. He had a little face plant session brewing..... He survived, but it was a slow ski back to the lodge. This reminded me of where I was two years ago.
I dropped him back off at the practice area and then went on the Grimm loop. Great loop of moderate hills and some rollers. I had a red coat in front of me I was using as a rabbit. I was gaining, until I wiped out....
Best snow I had been on all year. Perfect 25 degree temp. perfect glide and push.

What a difference a week makes. A week ago -- slick skis, today -- sandpaper.... Everything seemed hard today. This was a short session to blow off some steam from the corporate audit we have been subjected to all week. Snow was slow. I took a coworker and we did some drill work, then I did a fast southern loop, at least as fast as I could go... I fell 4 times, twice in drills (a good thing), then twice on the southern loop (not so good).
Last regular season game. Tied 1-1. Biz and another teammate did a little razzle dazzle and set me up for a relatively easy goal. Good fun, but a disappointing tie. Felt relatively lively for two days post Birkie
