Walking personnel through the orange course. Interesting to stand at the beginning of a route and ask how a new orienteer would get from control to control. Spent a lot of time talking about all the information that the map can provide. The compass is just one input. You have access to dozens of "clues" between controls. We got it right with the weather. Any colder and I don't think as many would have shown up, any warmer and the snow could have been slop and not fun to walk through. A great saturday.

Started out a bit rough on this one. Ran south to the lake vs. following the stream to the control. Cost me at least 30 seconds. Didn't make any big route choice errors until the last control before the finish. I went north from the control instead of continuing south. Julie TF tied me to the control by going south. I went the longer route through deeper snow...

9-10 I think the shortcut through the terrain is quicker. Andrei took the path, he is the faster runner, and we almost tied.

Didn't get the GPS data from this race. bummer.

Did the Carmichael Training Systems Field Test to work on setting training zones on my indoor cycle. Average watts was 161 and average cadence of 88. Now, to figure out what is next....
