went for a short little run to test out the ankle...felt ok. otherwise spent the day working - blach, going through the never ending sorting and storing process and hit Blues Fest for Josh Ritter! what a great show!
I told kpoire I would pass on the early invite for a mtb at 5:30am as I was hoping to get caught up on sleep, but ironically, I was wide awake at 4:15am, which is precisely when I would've gotten up to have breakfast, get things together and ride to the meet up point. But, I happily turned over and fell back asleep. I ended up getting out of bed at 7am to get some work and house stuff done and then Aude called to discuss our plans for an afternoon paddle when we both simultaneaously said " do you wanna go for a ride?" Why yes I do! So I rode from my place to hers and then on to the Gats for another loop and back home again. Good times as always and some great chats!

After the ride, had some lunch, cooled off, and Aude came and picked me up and packed the kayak to go paddling on the Gatineau river from KM's place. absolutely perfect weather day, warm and sunny but not humid!! We explored a bit, lots more gabbing, and cooled off by sprinkling water on ourselves and each other. Then we went for a nice post paddle swim. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
bah, didn't have time to go home and bring good runners so ended up not hiking the trail run last night and went got ice cream instead for both my self and CArlieG who is back in town afrter a 6 month stint in Haiti and back doing her first trail run in a while! yay!! Then I had her over and we caught up. double yay!!
Was going to ride to work this morning but the ankle was pretty sore in my road ride shoes....so I will attempt a ride this afternoon where I can go for a shorter period of time.
Swelling down but still painful.
Road Ride 2:45:00
hammered another gats loop with KF and ML -- good times! So fun to chat and be goofs and throw in some sprints and try as hard as hell to hold onto MF's wheel intervals. Champlain lookout was beautiful -- would've been great to wait for the sunset... ankle felt great on the bike, only hurts to unclip...progress!! followed it up with a little night dip, and also went for a dip before the ride...Just trying to keep my cool! :-)
So I guess there were additional reasons for the chaos on Sunday -- this just in from the Spartan race organizers:
There were decisions made by local authorities which were beyond our control. Due to the Prime Minister Harpers Convoy the road had been closed causing a knock on effect with racers in the later heats unable to pass through. We would sincerely like to apologize for any inconveniences you may have encountered resulting from these events. We are currently in contact with these authorities to understand why these decisions were made and to prevent further inconveniences from arising.
"Rest" day... blah, resting ankle and icing...seems like it's getting better. But, hopped into the pool about 6 times today to cooll off! :-) (worked from home due to ankle, life is tough). :-)
Skipped climbing with Stef and skipped out on "paddle mondays" and kept working. on the flip side, got lots done.
