Getting ready for Sprint
4 PM

Event (Long Sprint - 5 Day) 44:47 [4] 4.3 km (10:25 / km)
ahr:144 max:159 rhr:95

First day of Christmas 5 Day at Ourimbah Campus. Loved the course, though would have preferred Central Coast weather to have been a bit better behaved in the previous 2 weeks reducing the bog to more manageable size. Lots of intricate building stuff, a few long slog legs reminding me of Christmas fare caonsumed in the past few days. Pleased with all but 2 route choices but overall getting much better at decision making in this type of event. It also helped that I felt confident as rockman had done the map and I had run on it previously.
"Resting HR" = min for run and shows I had warmed up reasonably and didn't really pay for it - only 30 sec in (blue) zone so that's good. Really enjoyed Michele's course and so pleased to have senior Junior running at O for first time since 2000 except for a couple of random Street events.

stretching 15:00 [1]

Preparation for tomorrow - knees seem OK and quads feel more stretchy. Calf - well that's another sotry.

Note
(rest day)

More rest investment - had strange ankle collapsing events last night and only felt right knee when I jumped down from the balcony after surveying the roof - and no I'm not looking for Santa or a closet reindeer.

Note
(rest day)

Rest Day again seeing as how yesterday's seemed to pay dividends - knees not as sore as Wednesday night. Also stretching quads - learning from 2008/2009 debacle and icing when convenient.

Note
(rest day)

Discretion and all that, plus I need all the time I can get to go shopping.
Note: MessEng - hope it was a good "surprise". See you at the 5 Day

gym class (Cross Trainer) 1:00:00 [4]

According to instructor - name unknown but recognisable for strapped ankle - this was the hardest class she's given all year - her Christmas present to us! It wasn't the hardest class of the year for me - I think the one on Monday was - same type but Brooke style - but it was probably in the top 5. I'm trying to take all the hard options or at least up the level each week - not doing any of Level 4 now which is good in such a short time. I hope I don't pay for it this afternoon at hilly Valentine. May not do the weekly shop today either, nor the gardening - not much left except to wrap presents and reorganise the fridge in preparation for....
Note: tried out an intriguing machine - one of over 80 at this gym. I like it!

street run (SS 1 - Valentine) 46:57 [4] 6.1 km (7:42 / km)
ahr:142 max:162 rhr:59

Wary of the hills I elected to get up on the ridge and work along it. Pleased with route and also decision made around 37 min mark to add in an extra loop, then worried on the long run in (no points but there just weren't any to be had pretty much) that I would be massively late. I used to live in Dilkera Ave and I knew how long it was, and to compound matters I knew where the S and F were but seemed to be putting my calculations using where the S/ F was 2 years ago which was over 600m away away form the real one. Pressed on and was very surprised to lose only 2 points .Good day for me over my benchmarks (finally got 1 over a disinterested rockman) and MessEng was having a bad day and my comparison was favourable for once. I heard later that course setter GF had set the course with clusters of points and the job was to be as fluid as possible. macey certainly was "fluid" with a great run. The points were in clusters of a 1,a 2 and a 3 with just a few odd 1 pointers to link them. It all looks so clear now! So very pleased with distance - the longest on a hilly course, in fact I wasn't doing this distance on the flat this time last year so very pleased. However I'm feeling my knees tonight which is very rare - opted for downhill grass today and uphill tar. I think it is fortuitous that there isn't another event for 2 weeks - my body needs a rest. A few double answers today but nothing major - pleased with route.
