Event (SL 13 - Tank Paddock) 54:44 [4] ***
spiked:13/18c

What promised to be a very wet day didn't eventuate with the constant overnight rain trailing off just as we were starting to set up at event site. What a relief and where I thought I might be wearing extra layers I took them off and where I thought I might be drenched I almost got sunburnt.
Started off badly to #1 - missed the correct w/c and got to track so had to relocate. It was a challenging beginning and I lost a lot of time on this leg. Pretty full on Start triangle area for the kids, I thought. A bit tentative to #2 then feeling better #3-#11 but a straight forward leg to #12 was thrown away carelessly. Crossed the ride - yes this is a ride/clearing and went for the fence to use to get to the marsh, but grass was tough going and slowed down markedly and then manufactured a couple of 'extra' marshes which I tried to make mine. Should have run the ride (which rockman kindly pointed out later in the day). Got a bit more momentum after that but still tough going in the paddocks - the promised 3 different types of terrain delivered in spades. Pulled up a bit short for #16 and sloshy as on the way back to pivot and to end (wobbled here trying to find some drier way.) Liked the challenge, but was a bit disappointed at speed where possible - mud just sucked shoes and grass grabbed legs so pretty tired.
Then back to organise Presentation - again went well; people liked medals and certificates. Everyone happy. Lyn loved her special presentation :-)). Packed up and gone by 2:30 and home to junior and rockman.
So there ends this year's SLs - 3 wins in this class and 3 pathetic results in another.
Absolutely thrilled to catch up with jenny.
Day28toR.

Edit: OK I've now decided I am totally stupid. Crossing the ride to #12 - should have taken that as the route option as splits really display a lot of time lost there by trying to straight line it. I saw people running along the spur (on the ride) - just thought they were stronger than me in the grass. Poor start - I knew I was in the wrong w/c when the control wasn't there but why I continued on shows I wasn't concentrating - just could have hopped over to the next gully.

And the day sucked - well the mud seemed to suck me in and the grassy sections just sucked the legs so that lifting was hard. And wrong features sucked me in too. Quads hurting tonight and shows terrain running shoddy. BUT good fun - yes I mean that.

Event (SL 12 Sprint a) 22:22 [5]
ahr:139 max:163 spiked:18/19c rhr:119

Great course on Booragul campus map. Pleased mostly with effort and keeping in map contact. A few little twisty bits I had to slow for but felt confident - and should have too. Great atmosphere and good start to double header.

Poor MessEng - bad ankle sprain put paid to his weekend of running - and a few weeks ahead too methinks.

Event (SL 12 Sprint b) 27:35 [5]
ahr:137 max:160 spiked:9/13c rhr:120

Very complex and felt not in control for a lot of course. To #1 was just getting into map - nearly did a 90 out of #1 but then found no stairs where I wanted them so had to really pull self to go in correct direction. Bumbled to #4 after tentative selection of routes to 2,3 made me very hesitant. Long leg was fine until just before the circle and veered off to wrong building - fortunately it was the end of the row so quickly relocated. Still a lot of time lost. Had a levels moment at #12 (I think) - will confirm when have map. Then out to clear.
Much more attention needed as levels were quite complex. Not quite the atmosphere of the morning as rain imminent. Just made it - but Presentation not quite finished - yet. People like the medals and certificates so happy with that.
So won both races by about 10 minutes - but not happy with second race. Well off what should have been. Lots of discussion.

Day 27toR

Note

Today we are celebrating 44 years of being together. Our first "date" involved an offer of a ride on a fire engine - what a smooth worker he is/was.

Day 26 toR
10 AM

Day25toR
11 AM

walking 24:00 [2]

To pharmacy and return (obviously)

Note

Half hour gardening as garden will be inspected this weekend by junior. He will see various areas of weeding and pruning but no grass edging - he he that's for him to do.
I cleaned out the fireplace too and used the ashes for compost.
12 PM

Note

Just a little bit sad today. It's 21 years ago since mum died so seeing as I was born on her 21st birthday today is significant to me.

gym class (Body Step) 50:00 [3]

Pushed as hard as I could in the last peak track - didn't feel too bad. It was a surprisingly sweaty day for one so cold.
10 AM

gym class (Bodt Pump) 40:00 [3]

Stayed on the most of the Pump class - though started to get cold in between classes. Need to up weight in Triceps - bar felt like a feather and was hard to control.
Day 24toR

gym class (Shape and Tone) 50:00 [3]

Usual instructor has finally succumbed - off to have her baby in peace. Replacement was tough but not with the same variety of activities. New replacement next week who'll be there until Bec returns. So times are a changing. We did some Barre segments (as she is want to do to introduce it around) - and my assessment of the class is confirmed - I'm not missing anything I'd be interested in. As her focus is legs I struggled near to the end.
