Event (Balikera NOY) 1:23:55 [3] *** 5.14 km (16:20 / km)
spiked:10/12c

Apparently this is a polarising map - either you love it or hate it. I quite like it! The 2 "problem" controls on my behalf were #2 and #6, though 6 was really just a tentative feeling and a 360 (I was going the right way, then I wasn't then I was), unfortunately all in front of Sam and Kendall.
Leaving #1 bounced off the track until obvious bend then crossed 2 or 3 water courses (get the hint?) then plunged into and out of the green and tried to skirt it and then where am I? Decided to get to adjacent track and work it out from there. Not much to help so looked across valley and saw big mountain face, bare ground and beneath water. OH so that's where I am. By now Sam had passed by en route across the valley but I wasn't going there. Along track, got a feel for where I was then saw someone below on other side of ridge and LO a flag adjacent to a tree root mound. A bit lucky but the good thing was I knew when I pulled the pin it was to the SW.
So both misses today were quite encouraging - knew I was in wrong place, picked the right extrication direction and put it into action.
I really enjoyed course as presented - don't know how i would have fared with the original courses as planned.
Took a few track route options rather than trudge across terrain, adding a bit of distance.

gym replacement activity 45:00 [2]

Pushin a bit - just 2/3 of yard. Will do rest next time. Needed to take advantage of dry grass.

warm up/down 18:00 [1]

Didn't feel as good or smooth as last week but did the trick.

Park Run (Newy) 34:27 [5] 5.03 km (6:51 / km)
shoes: bright pink

Eliz - 7:16 as comfortable as recent times allowed - and in for the long haul. Time wasn't great but that wasn't the challenge today. Any running is better than any walking!.
Cone - 17:07 Not too bad and felt comfortable to go on - so I did. Stopped for about 10 seconds to check on a lady who had slipped on the pebblecrete. Not sure that her arm escaped.
Eliz -26:48 Did eventually have 1 walk in this section and the difference was obvious. Missed the 3km marker. Pooh! Much better than last week but still a way to go. Mind is the terror.
Finish - 34:27 1 min improvement on last week which was set up in the second sector. Still too easy to give up and walk, though I have to admit when I was running it wasn't too bad. So what I have to do is work on the second half - mentally.

Lovely long chat afterwards with club members various - Bax snuggly tucked up in bed at home. If I can have a mid-week prac run I think I can turn things around.

gym class (Body Sculpt) 1:00:00 [5]

All on legs and upper body. Time flew, very enjoyable and tough. Went heavy as only 60 reps in a group, but at the end I think not quite heavy enough.

gym class (Body Pump) 1:05:00 [4]

Upped triceps and biceps - interesting. Pushups - woo hoo - back on all 4s!
Seems like back has been rested enough and this morning was OK, with no effect on capacity in Body Pump. Seems like Tues + Thurs classes are designed to work out the kinks generated by Mon and Wed classes. Pity Friday has only Parkrun (for me) to do that. But I've only noticed one other who does every 9:30 class in the week- tinytoes strikes again.

Note

Back is really weak and tight at night. Possibly the result of the 100 burpees in the class today followed by 1hr of grass weeding. Stretching doesn't seem to be helping. Perhaps the Body Pump class again tomorrow will help with recovery.

gym class (Cross Fit Train) 1:00:00 [5]

Another tough class in the 'set and forget' mode. But smaller timeframes this time and pyramid format after tabata so pretty good - or else I'm doing my usual giving in to something I can't change.

gym class (Body Pump) 1:03:00 [3]

Despite feeling OK at breakfast arriving at the gym I felt really tight and sore in the back - particularly between shoulder blades. Then I remembered what I had done yesterday so this class was probably the best treatment. Still until I got through a few tracks it was a little bit of a struggle.

Yep an Intensity 5 - worked very hard. Good to hear groans in the body of the room when I felt the same way. Sliding Doors activity as well as pyramids. Such an interesting format.
