Event (Hunter Valley Champs) 52:05 [3] *** 3.8 km (13:42 / km)
spiked:6/8c

So Hunter Valley Champs at Belford - one of our most runnable and uncomplicated maps. Having set there about 3 years ago helped a bit but it is vague and undulating so need to keep concentrating. A few people had the wanders!
Started off pretty well but quite hot even in the forest. 2 very long legs in the middle of the course which crossed each other. I tried to keep an eye out for features to help on the way back (see I am trying hints from Discussion) and I did plan my exit direction as I was almost at the control. No really dramas save for being dragged towards the road for #2 - long leg, though that helped in the attacking, and near the end where I ended up on the track (as did Alex) and a way off the control #7. It again helped in attacking and control was much easier to see from track than from the direction of travel.
Got a reasonable trot up at times - Leonard Cohen was in my head most of the time. Saw 5 roos.
Very disappointed at turn out - for HVC!!! Can't be overuse of the map, nor horrible weather or Fathers Day. Possibly the last bush event for year. :-((
Took out a win and a reasonable time.

Park Run (Callaghan) 35:37 [4] 5.0 km (7:07 / km)
shoes: bright pink

This was SO much fun.Loved the course, interesting and changeable. A very small turn out compared to my usual Parkrun at Newy. Had some concerns about 'getting lost' and while everyone who had done it before warned me it was hilly, deceptively hilly, I took the stance that every uphill would be a downhill on the return. Didn't at any time have the despondent feeling I usually have at Newy. Loved the change in terrain and the sheltered route.Wasn't going to look at time and had no idea of which places I could use as waypoints so just did turn around. Was very pleasantly surprised as comparable to Newy.
Course was well marked - thanks to all volunteers and especially the course markers!!!!
Back and walking while warmed down - chatted. So different - sorry Newy but "I think I've found my new home!"

Smorgasbord 45:00 [3]

Appointment timing caused a change in gym plans. Started off on bike as a warm up but it took 15 mins to get HR above 75 and I was trying. I expected a 10 minute warm up but that was ridiculous! Thought about doing some intervals to prompt me to rev up - but no interest.
Weights/strength section seemed OK. Then got side tracked talking to a former student so not as long on elliptical as I would have liked. Still better than not going.
Bike - 25
Strength - 15
elliptical - 5

Note

Hope I don't need my rain coat today. 4 hours of Yr 10 being wet won't be fun ...or... perhaps it will be?

walking 50:00 [2]

Putting out controls at Boomerang Park. Actually took 90 minutes - I was pretty slow to ensure all tethers were tight. Brisk walk between controls. Slight drizzle but cleared for an overcast, cool day. Fantastic kids - Line course, Scatter course in pairs then match race - loved it all. Then control collection - kids did it all.

gym class (Cross Fit Trainer) 1:00:00 [5]

Partners again but different format. Mostly on core activities but we cut out the repetitive stair component until the last possible moment - oops.
I wish to announce I can now do a box jump! And I'm back to doing pushups on a platform - in lots of 20.

Thought it was going to be upper body judging from weights that were hanging around for us. yes it was but so much more. I love how Cory can change the usual into the unusual. tough day with 0.75 laps and lots of springing - legs tomorrow will be unhappy.
