walking 55:00 [2]

Due to tree felling duties no gym for me today. But could sneak away to newsagents (via the Chinese shop which usually has the papers on a Monday - not today) for Monday paper. Quite warm out. I think my legs appreciated not going to the gym for more punishment. Knees a bit groany at the beginning but OK when I got going.

Event (Morundah - NOY 1) 1:32:40 [3] *** 4.6 km (20:09 / km) +240m 15:59 / km
spiked:13/22c

Finally I've made the change - did the Medium Hard. But it certainly wasn't Medium Hard - it was very very hard physically.
Managed to help out my "new" family who turned up - think we definitely have some converts there.
Scale at 1:5 000 was noted but tried to navigate purely from features which were in abundance. Seemed to get the distances quite well but distance up the hills were very poor. Oftentimes I am fairly sure I was in the circle but poor execution thereafter.
S-1 first control was not a happy one. I really feel that it wasn't on the saddle and so turned back about 5m away. PN just behind thought likewise but him being taller could see over the bank of the w/c and the flag.
1-2 seemed like I was pulled W but fence there; along track, through rockline then cross country scrambling. Found control easily, getting to it another matter.
2-3 inadvertently via 13 but OK that's fine and so hoped I'd see 14 en route to 3 but I didn't. I don't actually think I saw it later either (I did just not sure where it was!)
3-4 get through rock
4-5 fine
5-6good
6-7better
7-8 below rockline
8-9 phooey - good line and spied 3 root mounds - perfect but control not there - about 5m away and PN got there before me!
9-10 seemed a little off line being dragged South but hit road and around vege enclosure to w/c drink!!!
10-11 NW around dam then N picking up clearings and bare rock.
11-12 out to track and again to rockline crossing (used for #2) in but about 10m off line. Again in circle just "off".
12-13 - only remembered I'd been there before just as I was about to punch. Getting very weary now and not thinking straight.
13-14 fairly short leg but worried I hadn't seen this control before ... and I don't really know how I found it this time. PN and I stumbled around, thought too high then too low then he disappeared. But I couldn't make rock and w/c fit plus green stripe and thick green too. Eventually found a "new" control which happened to be 14. Came from below and thinking now I might not have looked far enough "over". Damn.
14-15 straightish picking good line.
15-16 used linear clearings well
16-17 SW picked up bare rock and clearings and...no control. A little further and found another clearing with a control but was sure it wasn't mine. I think it was on Long. Retraced, found another lot of rocks, saw someone exiting but sure they were coming from that other control. Still went below rockline and found it on nose of spur - again in circle.
17-18 Longish leg but cut across track, followed for a little while then in and across to w/c. Nice control.
18-19 Uphill slog to bare rock and to end of linear section and control.
19-20 W beneath embankments, crossed main road and straight to control. At last some reprieve.
20-21 Out to road and cut in at bend picking up linear bare rock and clearing. Hopped between parallel lines then spied a control. I thought it was my #11 but on checking it was 21. YAY
21-22 SSE, crossed w/c and track, saw "not my control" then saw my control
22 - F via road.Tried to summon up a jog for appearances sake.

Did managed to beat a few people and another 3 or 4 who DNFed.
So this is why I want to do Hard Medium - but I think I want to conjure up another name. No way was it Medium!!!
Feet very sore. I found O shoes gave very little protection and feeling it on lower back. I'll sleep well tonight.
Thanks to DK, DL and SK for the courses and control placement.
Kids had a great time with the train carriages and station.

Park Run (Newy) 34:40 [4] 5.0 km (6:56 / km)
shoes: bright pink

After a better warm up I was a little more confident and certainly the first half felt much better for it. I know now the real problem is in my head.

Eliz - 7:10 this was a surprise and a real boost.
Cone - 16:40 ( 9:30) Wow - still hanging in there. No walk so very happy with that.
Eliz -27:02 (10:22) A couple of other small stops.
Finish -34:40 (7:38) 20 sec improvement and knowing how much walking in second half there is real potential for about 1 min improvement.

Nice chat afterwards with Ashleigh and Tim, leepback, mapgirl and Meg. Bax was bored. It's been a big month for him.

rockman on fire today.

gym class (Body Sculpt) 1:07:00 [4]

HI rep, low weight day. Tabata x2 - upper body and legs; run x2; some Step; some line work. A first - I was out 1st in run 2 and came back 1st - amazed. Think the speedies of the slow group weren't there today. Lots of energy expended - butt, hammies and shoulders should be in pain tomorrow.

Still maintaining weight increase - happy with that. Can't go backwards now!
