warm up/down 8:00 [1]
slept:7.0

Much shorter than I would have liked - later start than ideal, transporter of parkrun tag from husband to wife, helping out a confused visitor looking for Language Centre and yep the loos weren't open again! Still felt reasonable - just short.

Park Run (Callaghan) 36:29 [4] 5.0 km (7:18 / km)
shoes: bright pink

Cool morning with fog lifting. Decided to use pink shoes, hoping that the tide from last week had subsided.
Start-steps Rainforest walk -10:06 First surprise of the day was the clearing of the loose mulch on track - much easier to negotiate. Still had the usual feeling of not being able to expel all the air in my lungs. Was very quickly by myself - which was a surprise again. Very happy to see very close to clicking back to the 9's again.

Steps - cone 7:38 (17:44) Happy with this - but mostly set up by the first section.

Cone - steps Rainforest Walk 6:56 (24:41)- again almost identical time, but thought it was OK if I could manage to put effort into the end section.
Steps - Finish - 11:48 (36:29) Happy to be under 37 again and felt it was much improved time. Though mostly set up by first section - rest is very consistent. Felt much better in the good parts and there seemed to be fewer bad parts today.

A bit too much walking in flat sections which I don't usually allow myself but some running up hills which i usually can't manage.

After consultations with GP it appears I can "run" until i see specialist cardiologist in 3 weeks. Apparently my problem is that I sleep and HR goes to 31 and has the occasional rest (24 of them in 5 hours?) Lazy bugger!

street run (Raymond Terrace) 54:34 [4] 6.4 km (8:32 / km)
shoes: bright pink

This was a stress release so i didn't care how long I took - just as well. It had all the hallmarks of a disaster right from 1pm. Left Sydney an hour later than planned and was mid-eating time - so I didn't have lunch. Drove home in warm car but had accident on way in Sydney so there was some time spent in pursuit and then "negotiations" with other driver (truck driver whose vocabulary was fairly limited to words starting with f).
I expected a new family to come so tried to get to Raymond Terrace before 5:10 - missed by about 10 minutes but they hadn't arrived. Waited for them until 6 and then went out; by this time it was a spectacularly lovely evening!
Picked a route - didn't have any second thoughts and took off, but was willing to cut it short if I seemed to be going to be late.
Felt OK for the first bit, or rather no worse than lately, and was amused by a known "follower" of people who was using me for reference. I almost thought about walking to see how he'd cope!
Happy with route and distance and really wanted more. Ditched a couple of controls en route but made a really dumb decision (and pig headed to boot).
S-1G-3C-1D-1B-3A-1A-1H-2C-3D-2D-(had hoped to pick up 2E and then out to cemetery 3G but ditched 2E, stopped to draw arrow for re-entry direction to focus my tiny mind) - 3G ( at cemetery - really should have ditched it and while I knew exactly where it was still muffed the approach) through cemetery, round track - 2H- up hill - wait this is on the reservoir and 2 points so will pick it up - 2G - then pick up re-entry arrow. Trouble was re-entry arrow was1km from actual Finish !!! 2B - 3B and then to F.
Pretty happy with stringing controls together and not at all fussed about time, though i am flirting with DSQ and wrath of Peter N. Maybe I have some weeks where I time and some weeks where I plan and have fun!
Sat around after and talked with Bridget about Sculpture x Sea and Thomas about his route choice decision, noting my route was pretty good - for someone else to run! I think I have not instituted the rule of 1/3s.
Saw Moose too - recovered from last weeks' family "runs". Sam seemingly very content with 6 week old Ben.
Not sure about next week - will see how we feel after Drs.

Note

Annual visit to Sculpture by the Sea. Last year was memorable because of atmospheric conditions - the rolling cloud that so many people captured on film. This year slightly weather related - very big surf managed to capture one of the sculptures on Tamarama Beach and dispatch it to the elements. Beach was closed as the big waves thundered in. Interesting to watch people along all vantage points - upper lookouts watching and when finally the exhibit stopped floating between waves and finally tumbled there was a collective gasp and sigh.
Astrid seemed to enjoy her first visit - just a few shut eye moments and she got a taste of dirt too (during changing).
Lovely weather - just right level of clothing. Only managed Marks Park and south to Tamarama and was pleasantly surprised that the majority of sculptures were here. Junior, Astrid and rockman all had an afternoon nap when we got home.
