slept:5.0

Still struggling - exhaustion not doing its job! Perhaps today's activities will.
12 PM

gym replacement activity (Event set up) 1:30:00 [2]

Event set up: packing car with 50 piggies, lugging said piggies from car to maze set up, setting up maze all in the very open with the occasional wind gust. Pretty hot but grateful fire danger wasn't for us!
3 PM

walking (control checking) 1:00:00 [2]

Checked all control sites (for those controls already in place - some we just had to leave until the very last moment). So for those who might complain - I checked all controls were in correct position as per map supplied - and that numbers corresponded - as per map supplied. Trouble was a sneaky hand had intervened and a mysterious control number appeared on the descriptions. Urgh!
The event was for our Club Presentation and was at my favourite place - Brickworks Park. Shane's concept was for fun but with a tang - as for several controls no codes were supplied (dummy letters instead) and at those control sites there were 2 flags eg at each end of a bench seat, but the description would have indicated N or S end. Forget the no 2 controls on same feature within Xm of each other - this was acknowledged! Look at your bloody map at where the circle is people - and when we say "foot" of embankment we don't mean the "top".
But should one run foul of the codes it is a simple matter of adding 1min per incorrect punch. Peoples were a bit concerned about this - especially those for whom N and S seemed to interfere with E and W but they won't make comment here!!! Will they. I think general consensus from experienced heads was that it was a good training exercise and for others it was a dummy run for what might occur at Xmas 5 day.
And those who might complain that I had inside knowledge - I didn't know which of the controls (where there was a choice) was the correct one. My job was to ensure there were multiple controls and at each end of the feature. Nor did I know which course any control was on. (so pretty lame vetter)
Classic excuse for the day!!! At the end, an elite runner said - "oh I always run with my map folded and the enlarged map of the maze is on the wrong side of the page. I didn't see it until now."

Park Series (Brickworks Present) 23:32 [3]

Really hanging out for this - so despite having a poor night's sleep, no lunch and helping out with set up out I would go on the Short course.
It was absolutely brilliant to see so many adults, family groups and kids out in the park enjoying this little gem.
Acknowledged there is very little navigation but the crunch comes inside the circle and I was very careful to read the whole description!! Thrown straight into the maze and was careful to get the correct control, then out into the park itself. Having visited the area around #5 (and took the control adjacent to it) I still found a way to miss it and used an attack point from the NE track corner - very strange but just shows I didn't benefit from my knowledge.
Took my time to get the tree control at the southern end of the map correct using the fence to ensure I picked the right tree. Not much left in the legs for a couple of the longer legs across grass near the end, but when I see the time it's not much .
Great event and happy for Shane.
Then BBQ and presentation. Around 70 people stayed and lovely to see them chatting and socialising which we don't often get to do.
7 PM

walking (control collecting) 35:00 [2]

Fast walk to bring in controls before dark and before the mossies carried us away.

warm up/down 8:00 [2]

Tried the new breathing aid - fail in delivery I'm sure.

Park Run (Callaghan) 37:04 [4] 5.0 km (7:25 / km)
slept:5.0 shoes: bright pink

Felt OK but still unsure as to whether it is a 'placebo' effect. Certainly a
warm morning with fog lifting.
Start-steps Rainforest walk -10:14 Much reduced feeling of not being able to expel all the air in my lungs. More people around me this week so i tried to use them. A few - about 6 of us - taking turns to lead. Disappointed that I didn't see high 9's after the past few weeks' promises and I felt a bit better and didn't stop at all.

Steps - cone 7:40 (17:55) Relieved to still be under 18 but a long way off what it has been and what I'd anticipated from past few weeks.

Cone - steps Rainforest Walk 6:56 (24:51)- again identical time, but thought it was OK if I could manage to put effort into the end section.

Steps - Finish - 12:13 (37:04) Just outside 37 and felt like it too. Though mostly set up by first section - rest is very consistent. Felt much better in the good parts and there seemed to be fewer bad parts today.

A couple of big wins today - very proud I ran up both track hills - but a little too much walking up Engineering Hill - paved.

Legs felt heavy all throughout. Tired now after bad night's "sleep".

I managed to take 3 scalps today - very sure it is their bad form not my good! Nice chat before with K and afterwards with Elaine, Tracey and others.

gym class (Body Sculpt) 1:00:00 [5]

I am going to be so very sore tomorrow and probably Sunday. Upper body to the max. Absolutely no running at all. Times was slow to begin with then the pain started. Best workout but painful.

I finally took the plunge and upped weights for half the back track (last half).
Long talk afterwards with Deb - about what the music does to us.
4 PM

gym replacement activity 1:30:00 [3]

Gone back to pruning the living daylights out of plants as stress release. Hot and sweaty raking and sweeping with vehemence.

gym class (Body Pump) 53:00 [3]

Had to leave early to get to a meeting at 11. Usual - biceps a bit of a struggle, probably in response to yesterday's class. Close to upping weight for back.

gym class (Cross Fit Training) 1:00:00 [4]
slept:8.0

Matrix 7
Biceps
Triceps
50-40-30-20 squat jumps and lunge jumps (modified of course so I can actually walk afterwards)
matrix calf raises side raise (arms) - did crunches instead of calf raises

Follow the leader - hope we eventually get one who knows her left from her right!
So very glad it's Monday and not Tuesday or Friday. Running tomorrow would be problemmatic.
