gym replacement activity 50:00 [1]

4/5 of way through disposing of tree prunings of January.
6 PM

street run (Lakelands) 45:40 [4] 4.78 km (9:33 / km)
shoes: bright pink

Cooler by recent standards and with rain earlier in the day and still overcast no chance of humidity dissipating. Just as I was driving in I noticed a father and daughter from parkrun walking towards assembly so I made a quick dash to catch them and welcome them. I ended up doing their intro which was really good and I think they were happy.

So this map is a slight rejig to avoid crossing a very busy road (with sad consequences 2 years ago for a young girl going to swim training). While there is an unavoidable hill or two or three, they weren't horrible. Shane set a very interesting challenge - close in where there is a real nest of streets and two straight street sections where the runners could let loose. To the N of the nest of streets there was also a green belt with no controls, so just a transport leg really. Maximising points was the name of the game, but the nest provided a myriad of routes possible - lovely!
I decided not to go around and work my way through the middle, but to go through and branch off. But still some challenges. I also wasn't sure which tinytoes was going to show up today - the running one, the hoppity jog or worst the walker. Fortunately the running one was available.

S-get hill over early - 1E - 2H- - loved this bit with a pathway behind houses 1A-3C- do I get 2M now - no on way back 1G- Katrina looks very confused - 2N up and over past the OOB which is where I came past on the Rogaine (oops no it wasn't) 3D - 2M - going really well for time so I'll add in - 2M-2D-1K-2L- reassessment of return now but oh how easy that meant I could pull in the 2 and 3 pointer from this angle rather than 2 out- and- backs from the top- hello to my parkrun converts who were having such fun -1J-2E-3H- I really do have only 5 mins left? - do I get 1D and get back with 3 mins to spare or go for the long range 3J and blow a point? Go for it... back past 1E hello - down hill, across the lush green playing field, down stairs, up stairs and back with my eyes firmly fixed on sal. ahead but she was only walking (that didn't look good) - F.
Very happy with the additional points and with eventual placing. Mind you all the big guns were no shows for various reasons - I think Clare W won!!! but still % was good (28/44)- Thomas did really well 41.

Suddenly the season is almost over with just another event to go + presentation. Much rumblings about pointscore manipulations - see Peter G knew what he was on about! Lots of chat afterwards about parkrun launches and hot campervans with no airflow. Probably this summer wasn't a good ad!

gym class (Body Pump) 1:03:00 [3]

Now I've got a bit of an incentive to focus some more with possibility of more paddling.

gym replacement activity (Paddling) 15:00 [3]

No sign of soreness which is good considering shoulder has been under treatment for over 2 months. So went out again. Water quite choppy but felt really lovely and splooshed against the waves. Going into the wind and chop was a workout but on the way in I was very quick (he he).

gym replacement activity (paddling) 15:00 [3]

Water flat and had a paddle after rockman relinquished the craft. Nice feel and felt twinges of... I wanna. But hip flexors terrible - as usual. Wonder how my shoulders will be tomorrow?

gym replacement activity (Aquarobics) 10:00 [0]

Lovely spontaneous rekindling of past activity. May try to find it again

Park Run (Fingal) 36:49 [4] 5.0 km (7:22 / km)
shoes: bright pink

Felt good - first half fairly happy with but time was not indicative of this. About 1.3km in I latched onto a couple of women who were going at exactly the right pace for me. So i stuck behind them and felt really comfortable. No stops - at all - and just going and going and all of a sudden it was turn around cone - WOW - this was a first but the time was crap. Oh well taking the good parts from the day. About 3.1 km I found the duo were slowing and I was almost clipping their heels so i said my goodbyes and overtook them... and then the struggle started. Stop start 3.2-3.7 and then got act together. I was going faster but stopping more - just frustrating! Time disappointing but activity pleasing. Ho hum Still a lovely place for parkrun. rockman volunteered.
Back to house for beach with Astrid and then brunch.

All sectors slower than last time - but negative split - after I ditched my running mates. Just weird.
S-1T - 4:26 (faster than last time)
1T-2T 14:14 (38 sec slower - which was fairly indicative)
2T-1T 13:46 (18 sec slower - fairly pleased)
1T-F 4:20 (7 sec slower)

The big step forward was that my breathing was really very good and distance a big step forward (in recent times)- just legs were lead and I suspect stride length poor.
Nice talk afterwards to Paul - a Newy refugee/Bay holiday maker and talked him into going to Lord Howe ASAP. Also found my friend from last time (well Bob's Farm) and my 2 running buddies (from Sydney).
8 AM

warm up/down 10:00 [1]
shoes: bright pink

Must be the curse of Fingal - tummy rumbling despite taking evasive action and also felt twinge in my left knee and butt felt tight during warm up. But onward we go. Nice morning though starting to get warm.
