Park Run (Callaghan - pebblecrete) 39:25 [3] 5.0 km (7:53 / km)
shoes: bright pink

No warm up as it was raining and I wasn't intending to run, just walk. I love walking (and running) in the rain, but I was also conflicted as I had a meeting to chair commencing at 10 with a shower and 2 drives of 15 mins to fit in after finishing. Managed to see Alexa beforehand and gave her some bush maps to study. Chatted with Michael C also - finally met up with him from my previous professional life of Science Communication.

Quite (but understandable) small turnout and I was just going to walk. But when Magic said "GO" I was off (no warm up, no meds, no planning) in the drizzle. Got to the first section of pebblecrete and it was WHOA steady on here. And so it was for the whole time. Walked pebblecrete areas of which there are many it being a Uni campus and all. But when the opportunity arose I couldn't help myself... sad really. Happy with things going that way but the most treacherous was the pebblecrete around the Union which both cambered and sloped. That was fun.
Comparing times for usual and today's dedicated walking and running - pretty dismal really.

Start-steps Rainforest walk -11:41 Back to the originally planned route taking in Comm Bank.

Steps - cone 7:59 (19:40) Ran fairly well through rainforest area and managed to run up the last of the track hill. Not a whole lot different.

Cone - steps Rainforest Walk 6:52 (26:32) Huge improvement and also no pebblecrete that worried me (ie ran on roads... ooops naughty). Maybe not as fatigued.

Steps - Finish - 12:53 (39:25) Quite surprised to be under 40, just. Some sections fairly happy with.

So that makes it run #98. Hopefully #99 cooks river and #100 back at Callaghan.

gym class (Body Sculpt) 1:00:00 [4]

Cory filling in for an ill Liv; raining so a frustrated running Cory resulted in a legs and shoulders day. Tough as!
Warm up.
Mostly 10 down by 2s of 3 or 4 exercises until 4 then up to 10 again in the legs department.
Cardio pep up seeing as we had all gone to sleep by now...NOT.
20 down by 2s to 10 for the glutes and back for 3 or 4 exercises
Another cardio wake up call
10 down by 2s to 4 then up to 10 for shoulders which by this stage were screaming and begging for mercy.
A whole session with no burpees - I think Cory isn't well either.
So today Naomi (young mum with 2 kids under 3) said how good I was looking, lost weight etc. I don't think so, but think she thinks that because I've had my hair cut short again BUT I have found one of my blouses is a bit tight now on the biceps and shoulders and it hasn't shrunk. So gym work paying off - running work way behind.

Note

Looked at my thumb this morning out of its cast. 4 weeks on, I've given it a name - Nicole as in Nicole Kidman. The skin is quite translucent, the thumb is noticeably thinner but no curly ginger hair (fortunately). Still not convinced it is healing and now I am in limbo. Still injured but with little prospect of recovery despite immobilisation. Maybe a miracle will happen over the next 2 weeks. Won't go the injection route so surgery is the other possibility.

Missed the warm up due to transport issues.

Park Series (Islington - P2) 38:54 [4] 5.1 km (7:38 / km)
shoes: bright pink

New map - woo hoo. Base map by rockman and fieldwork by ID. Great use of urban area - 'interesting' locals got a bit vocal by 6:30 - Newcastle people will understand. Mix of streets and parkland. Quite a few tricky route choices - and I think I got everyone wrong!!!! The 2 time losses reported were the result of poor route choice (though I stayed on the map unlike some others) and the second where I ran to a flag but stupidly ran past my tree where the flag was tucked behind.
Good news - my parkrun converts joined the club today! So 4 people converted in 2 years from parkrun. Slow but steady.

Addendum: looks like I did stuff the route choices badly - bertbennett has distance as 4.3

gym class (Cross Training) 1:00:00 [5]

Good usual standard of class. Only notable (but not quite out of the ordinary) was that I overcooked the first run and was pretty stuffed by the end of it. But I managed to complete all the challenges and improve time/numbers for each.
Cory only did 38Km yesterday so we could work on our legs toady. Gee thanks for that. Fastest in Group C for one of the challenges. One of our number didn't make it through - she ended up prone for 20 mins to recover.
