warm up/down 10:00 [2]

An almost reasonable time for warm up. Weather just perfect. Realised just as I was to start that I'd left my watch at home - so absolutely no pressure today.

Park Run (Callaghan) 37:50 [4] 5.0 km (7:34 / km)
shoes: bright pink

Good amount of warm up interspersed with a visit to the loos.
Started out fairly well and had very few issues at all and felt good even up to the top of first hill around Comm Bank. Settled in and just kept plodding along. Recognised 2 people whom I've run "with" were here today so that was good to focus on. Made it all the way to Don Morris Rainforest and that is a first for a very long time. Then Homa picked me up and got me through the rainforest before I told her to go. Made it up bush path to Engineering Hill. I did walk all the way up Engineering hill but nothing more along the Ring road. Gave myself a tiny breather at turn around and then back I go. 2 peers still there but I was nearing them and felt OK. Passed one and that just left Anne to focus on.
Paced Anne through Rainforest then I had a little breather after the steps - she powered on. Ran flats but walked a little of Union minihill. Bus Stop hill walk again but none after that and almost caught Anne on the final track hill before the flat finish. She got me by 5 seconds but due to a timing error she appears to get me by about 2 mins. That must be a very long 8m.
Some real positives here, but still the time is long.
Perfect weather - humidity down, no mossies, temp down and no water on course.

walking 25:00 [2]

Down to pharmacy and return on what is emerging as a pretty muggy afternoon.

gym class (Body Sculpt) 1:00:00 [4]

First bit of unsettling news - Liv looking elsewhere as her hours/job has been cut since her maternity leave; not at the gym itself but as Area Manager/car etc. That was worrying - to say nothing of illegal. But at the end of the class she announced that we'd be seeing her for a bit longer, so hopefully Management has seen the error of its ways. A few of us were contemplating moving gyms. As it is I'm checking out my old gym on Sunday - Step is Back!!!!!!!!!
Today was Strength:Power: High Reps for upper body, legs and upper body again.
Warm up was a doozy - increasing tempo 30 sec runs interspersed with 50-40-30-20-10 pushups. At least she does know how to count unlike Cory who counts 50-40-30-20-50.
A long stretch section at the end starting with half or full saddle. I'll be working on that one. I think I only managed the stirrup. Holding stretches for about 30 secs each was very good. My physio would be impressed.

gym class (Body Pump) 55:00 [3]

Had to miss the Abs and Cool Down as needed shower before meeting Sam and Bob at Elermore Vale PS for Rogaine preparation. School seems very supportive and fantastic location.

Smorgasbord 30:00 [3]

My first "free" Wednesday for 6 months - :-(( no street or Park series event. So to change things up went to gym in afternoon and did:
10 uphill walking
10 min cycle
10 min run
Would have been more but had to get to meeting with Air Cadets LAC with view to orienteering activities.

some bits felt really good and strong but definitely feeling it from yesterday's class.
4 PM

gym replacement activity 1:15:00 [2]

Late decision to do the mowing and a bit of clearing expecting heavy rain to come. Very disappointed about state of the front garden - next door's chooks have been very busy.

gym class (Cross Trainer) 1:00:00 [5]

10-8-6-4-2 of 3 exercises and every round had burpees in it. GAH does she want to kill us?? Well no burpees in the bicep curl and hammer curl section but that was the only one missing out.
Cardio was 20/10 - 18/9... down to 10/5 Pushups, mountain climbers, high knees, Part B was burpees and step ups.
First run was atrocious, second better and third was not too bad, but for each one I was further back in the starting pack.

Note

First bush event for the club at Mount Sugarloaf. A very rainy morning and as I got to about 15km from it, it was clearly... well it wasn't. The whole mountain was shrouded in fog. Great to see a whole crew there early to help set up. I made the comment that the area should be designated as "good running visibility low".
Really went today to give the spiel to my newly converted family - their first bush event. But helped out at Rego Desk first. Lots of people - 3 new families who needed guidance, plus 15 or so from Sydney who didn't. Yet another from Biodiversity Day last year - yay!!! I remembered her and she me!
Had planned to do Very Easy course with family then do my own course - probably Short Hard. But I got bit of an uneasy feeling and decided not to go out, continue on Rego Desk while Joy went out and then go home when start times closed. Today is a danger day for rockman... and so it was. Ended up at hospital again this afternoon. ;-((
