Park Run (Virtual) 44:00 [4] 5.0 km (8:48 / km)
shoes: white puma

Very cold, windy, rainy and ticking off the options i landed at a virtual parkrun at the gym. Put on a woodland scene and started the engines. First half seemed tedious but last was OK. Interesting to see HR in real time. Knew when i had to increase the speed was when my wrists were hitting the bars. don't know that I'd rush to do it again but it was the sane option today. Reunion meeting at 10. Pleased Nulkaba launch was last week.

Bike (Tempo session) 33:00 [3]
shoes: white puma

A very unenthusiastic rollover of the legs.

Note

During the chest track (for the uninitiated we lie down on our benches and push our bars vertically at varying speeds) while I'd been feeling quite strong I had a very worrying experience. Staring at the ceiling, the area around the 2.2kg bar (plus10kg load), seemed to be "shimmering" and the visual pattern was changing. A few (very few) seconds later I realised that the aforementioned bar wasn't straight but had suffered some impact and indeed was slightly bowed - hence the change in visual pattern. Reinforcement of idea - the usual may become the unusual! and I wasn't having a stroke!

gym class (Cross Trainer) 1:00:00 [4]
shoes: white puma

Foot uncomfortable the whole class. Modified jumping and did treadmill instead of class run. Feeling grumpy.

exploring (Course field check) 1:00:00 [1]

Checking Boomerang park for school activity. Lots of changes in one compartment - fortunately not the one I use. Nice afternoon stroll chatting with LH.

Event (Green Wattle Creek) 1:12:00 [3] 4.6 km (15:39 / km)
shoes: new black O

Just realised it was a weekend of launches. Dr DK's first bush map was officially launched - a great little map with fantastic facilities - Pony Club providing toilets and canteen and yummy food.
Scale was 1:7500 which at my current walking pace is equivalent to me previously running at 1:10 000. Foot grumbly to start and life didn't get any better. I really wanted to do the hard medium course but time was against me and as it turned out with my woeful start a good thing I didn't.
S-1 along track, cut corner, pick up w/c find tree route mound..... not. Fumble, stumble, work off w/c (vegetation was no help at all), relocate off track... no better....
S-1 (again) - along track and don't cut corner, go in off intersection of track and minor w/c and find control!!!
1-2 bearing and skirt veg, skimmed top of w/c, unknowingly, come to main w/c and rock, go E and meet with LH going in same direction, both miss w/c and get too close to road, return and find scrubby patch with subtle dip and flag.
2-3 parted company as I followed w/c and LH went cross country I came in 1 branch too early
3-4 thought I'd crossed over to major w/c but was actually in correct gully, but doubted and went out to nearby track then back across to more distinct w/c and found earthwall of appropriate height.
4-5 getting into gear now... followed w/c
5-6 vague across rough open and could see flag on tree route mound.
6-7 long leg, went ESE to track and followed appropriately then came in off distinct elbow bend
7-8 short leg around a couple of clumps of green
8-9 bearing through mangle of w/c, minor track, thickets but where I wanted it to be.
9-10 bearing, flag in open
10-11 bearing, got to track and saw water drop so went in for flag
11-12 across vague open rough but many clumps of green and nothing very helpful, decided to cut and run (that's a joke) and went N to... something.. which happened to be a flag in a shallow gully which was #13 so relocated from it
12-13 retrace steps
13-14 along w/c and associated clearing
14-15 repeat
15-16 out to track via w/c, cut across, found clearing finger - in.
16-17 went W and skirted thick green, but control at end so easy
17-18 bearing and saw subtle land changes
18-F bearing
Really enjoyed the terrain - the promised grassy areas must have been stripped by early runners - especially by bertB - his socks were hilarious! Someone actually thought they were furry! There was some very nice terrain, especially around the watercourses. Hope we get to use it again!

exploring 30:00 [1]

As if I hadn't had enough went for a lovely afternoon stroll to pharmacy for prescription. Foot really not happy... nor am I... but that's another matter.
