Volunteered at Blue Gum Hills parkrun this morning. Decided i might go close to a regionnaire in volunteering if I tried a little bit. 26th volunteering - which is the equivalent of 6 months.

Whirlwind orienteering experience for 70 teenagers on a fellowship camp (CJCLDS) A mix of ages, abilities, interest levels. All were extremely polite - some even listened.

Surgery on leg. Results within a week. No quick movements for at least a week and dressings on for 3. That sorta puts a dent in plans! Lots of volunteering coming up at parkrun!

gym class (Cross Trainer) 55:00 [4]
shoes: white puma

Jamie Lee still filling in for the newly married Cory. Getting to really like her classes. No running today as it was raining lots - but that didn't lighten the work load.

walking (field checking) 45:00 [2]

Did a fairly quick lap of permanent course I'm planning on using this Saturday - managed to miss all the rain which was really heavy beforehand and just drizzly afterwards.

Event (SL - Kitchener) 38:08 [4] ***
spiked:4/6c shoes: new black O

Much better today. This was a fantastic area - sadly very runnable due to the drought. Courses very well received by competitors. Discovered that the 2018 course rules were in effect - love them! Excellent course for participants, though upon picking up control descriptions I was less than enthused - all were watercourses! At least I didn't have to bother with ANY other feature. Was going well and was really happy with the danger control #4 (as decreed by course setter ID) and so chuffed was I that I thought I'd do something stupid and do a 180 out of it. Was going along trotting and stumbled and fell - picked myself up and found that I'd been running along the track in the wrong direction. Thank you small lump of rock! Retraced and kept going. That was the only stupidity for the day - the other mistake was the same as yesterday - my bearing seems VERY flat when it is a 1:7 500 map and so it was at #1 yesterday and #3 today. Fortunately I picked that one up much more quickly than yesterday. Again didn't recognise my error. 1st by almost 2 mins.
Anyway that ends the bush season for this household for 2018. Really seeing the effects of not going to SLs on both fitness in terrain and decision making. But today made me think that the knowledge is still there - just need to dig it out.
