Note

Another 2.5 hr gardening and yard maintenance - looking much better and pleased to be able to do it in pleasant conditions. (in addition to other activity today)
7 AM

warm up/down 12:00 [1]
shoes: grey/white

Heart not in it at all.
8 AM

Park Run (Callaghan mix) 42:22 [3] 5.0 km (8:28 / km)
shoes: grey/white

Very negative feelings and really only there under sufferance
S-DMW - 13:14
DMW-T - 7:54
T-DMW - 6:53
DMW-F - 14:17
All sectors slower than last week - it's been a heavy legs week at the gym but the real problem is motivation and mental toughness. Felt very relieved at the finish, but not as relieved as Elaine - quiet time in the garden afterwards - was pretending to be a REAL uni student after a long night's celebration. She did look pale afterwards, though.
Went for a lovely cooldown walk and studied the ravine section of the rainforest - it is pretty! Again, surprisingly no mozzies.
12 PM

gym replacement activity 1:45:00 [4]

Gentle rain confined us to indoors so the warm up time seemed longer than usual. Still a very intense class - hope the weather still permits a SSS run this afternoon.
6 PM

Street Series (Cameron Park South) 45:43 [3] 4.45 km (10:16 / km)

The afternoon was forecast to be heavy rain, but not much until about 4 - just as I was leaving. Thinking that the journey would be about 40-50 mins I expected most of the rain would be over. Got to event site faster - surprisingly little troublesome traffic - and to an area I'd not realised existed in its current form. It has THE most fantastic recreation facilities. Congratulations Lake Mac - brilliant work - wish I could snaffle it for Newcastle Shorts event.
Sat in car as the rain was still hanging on and as it seemed to be easing i set off. Not long until the rain set in solidly and for a while it was pelting and with a coolish breeze to boot. Was soaked very quickly and pleased that I'd worn old shoes but not pleased that I'd worn my new orthotics. Did a sector and could have come in at 27 minutes but I love running in the rain, though i didn't appreciate the lightning flashes every so often. Decided to add on another section and head back. Not much (running) flow as after each clue i needed to take shelter to write answer and to plan next part. Tried going beside a spoon drain which was well flooded, behind some houses - but first I had to jump it - that was fun!
Then headed back picking up and extra 6 points then had to work out how to get back to Finish. Wasn't too fussed if was late, but didn't want to squander points either. Looked at marked bush track from road, under power easement and up to fields. Could see fast moving water so decided to turn back. But leepback was hot on my heels and thought it was a goer. I said I'd come too while he was there so he went ahead. Well he went ahead alright - well up to his armpits in a hole - which I avoided but I went from star picket to star picket and leepback was well gone... thanks muchly for that. When I got to the Finish he said - so you're alright then? Good thing he's a good bloke! Scored pretty well, though distance isn't crash hot - a few little hills but route was the best in a while. BUT it was so much fun!

There are some activities we do knowing they will hurt - but this did hurt and it was really good to get through it - feeling i'd achieved something. Improved each sector in time and reps. Wish I felt the same way about parkrun.
