Super cool and overcast day - slight drizzle and a little headwind on way home (last 1km)
Chose Lakeview for its lack of mossies and I wasn't disappointed.
With improvements in gym5 times lately I hoped for some improvement - and got it so I'm happy with that. Still lots of room for times to drop which I'm working on.

Usual - but wasn't very sure today would be productive - very "slow" start to the day.

Oh golly gosh was a surprise. Seems like the warm up was very useful and I hit the "ground running" which isn't usual for me. Decided I'd try to surge in 2-3km leg then in 4-5km leg, but was "fast" from the start so not much available. Did put a bit of effort into 4-5 though. Couldn't believe my time. I'd had a 26 a few weeks ago but dismissed it thinking I'd mis-remembered or mistyped, but maybe it was correct? So this represents a 5:26 improvement for 5km (gym equipment) over 8 weeks (7 Dec). Feeling pretty happy with that.

Note

An early SBS piece featured sports reporter Jenny(?) Sheer learning about orienteering at an event on the Bob's Farm map. Along with someone doing some explanation there was the "usual" Benny Hill fast running shots, stopping, looking puzzled; going one way then turning then turning back.. etc etc and the background music was "Still haven't found what I'm looking for". Today I was in a supermarket looking to buy a diary (yes a diary in paper form!!!) and after some considerable time looking in all the right spots I realised that the muzak playing was... "Still haven't found what I'm looking for"... again thinking not the music I'd be playing in a supermarket either?

Felt just a little bit stretched showing my inconsistent appearances at the gym over the past month - more worrying was the very slight twinge in lower back - something I haven't felt for over 35 years. All seems OK now - hopefully same in the morning. My back strengthening exercises have stood me in good stead, but may need to up the Abs.

Sooo hilly - not any flat section to speak of except for the Assembly. Rob V said in start triangle - "think I'll do the hills first" - which the rest of us burst out laughing - first, last, middle - didn't matter they were there!
Picked a route which seemed contained but when I'd come to the "head for home" bit it was only 32 mins elapsed so tacked on another 6 points and got back in goodly time. Unfortunately I picked the longest stretch of hill in this part. Very hot - even with hills and the lake. Happy with my 23 points - which is about usual so given distance and points I think today was pretty good for me!

Holidays over :-((. I was clearing out the Wanda house when reality struck. Had my first phone enquiry for the year today at 2pm - that's a record! Talk about coming back to earth.
