Very pleasant temperature, a slight lake breeze but quite warm in the forest. Met up with Mahmoud who, like me won't, return to Callaghan while the course is as terrible as it is. Dale C going to send a note of disappointment and suggested alternate route.
Felt a bit glum when I started but better at the 3km mark and better afterwards.

Good management of HR build. I didn't think time would be too flash as the start was pretty sleepy being distracted by the nong look on Boris' face while a 7 year old blatted out a Rubik's cube solution in no time flat. Guess Boris was trying to work out what it was.

A lot of leg work but a lot of cardio. Kept HR below 140. Hopefully this afternoon's event doesn't involve hills.

Another hilly but managed to do a reasonable route with a mainly downhill finish. OK 53 seconds late but was happy with what I did. 25-1

First "pressure" event so was a bit rusty for first control - thinking "have I seen...?" Found it really difficult to keep contact with map, someone thinks I might have been running faster than my brain - which may be possible. Got into groove after #2 but then knew where #4 was but couldn't get to it. Tried 3 different ways, but ended up locating the invisible opening (a trick from sculpture/architecture) and I was back on track. Had all good legs from then - 2 fastest on course - picking the correct attack for last one before crossing over the footbridge. Just a bit disappointed for it to be all over - severe lack of intensity after #5 which was easily remedied. Nice to see a lot of people, who were very supportive.
