Park Run (Gloucester launch) 40:36 [4] 5.0 km (8:07 / km)

Drove to Gloucester Friday and set up tent. Gradually more people arrived and it was clear that the CP and the town itself would do well from parkrun launch. A very few drops and a bit of thunder in the afternoon, evening and overnight. Sooo humid.
Course is a 2 loop, undulating parkland course sometimes near the river. All in all it will be a scenic spot when drought it over. Enjoyed sharing with Carolyn M at dinner last night and talking to Sam H and Kendall.

Seems I faded on last sector - was distinctly monitoring HR.
My guess of 444 parkrunners, but actual number exceeded this. Hope it goes well for them. I think it will attract quite a few tourists.

The only positive was that I decided not to try for a 1 pointer on the way in suspecting I'd possibly lose 2 in getting it. I was right.
Unfortunately, a lot of effort today for very little reward. Sorry but sometimes runners should think about others! Never felt comfortable in route choice and for the first time in maybe 12 years I took off in a 'wrong" direction. I completely misread the street alignment. I haven't done that since a run in a storm and hence no sun to help and very confusing easement direction. Still I recovered and collected the 3 pointer I would have got on way in and did a bit of a reversal of route. It did unsettle me and I am going to have to get a better system of knowing where I am on the map as I lost a few seconds each time I entered an answer. Hot weather and stiff warm breeze was a problem also, but not as much as my non-working brain. A couple of long uphill stretches but some pleasant downs.
Glad that's out of the way. Not even close to my hoped for 50% of winner's points.

Exceptional class - no clock watching for me today. Focussed on strength, legs and core but with 2 dashes of cardio. That was all for Brooklyn who did 43km yesterday. Today must heave been like a sprint for her and Ivan who did about the same. I think they must be preparing for the Comrades Run again.
