Orienteering race 25:41 [5]

prologue race. Reasonably easy, but physical terrain. Lost at least a min on 3 getting confused by the way trees were mapped. Also a pretty slow route there. Tom caught me up again on the way to 4. We both stuffed up 4 going to far right at least 30 sec there. Then the rest was fine, just hard work and my lack of fitness definitley showed, felt terrible up the hills. Was 3 mins off where I needed to be, which I can totally see, but that was basically me out. Calf was sweet again, so that was good.

Orienteering race 32:00 [5]

chasing start loops race, started off ok small error going to 5 and got passed by Matt Scott, who I kind of kept in touch up to 16. Stuffed up 16 went too high and probs lost 30 sec or so. Really indecisive with my route to 18 and lost quite a bit because of it. smae with 19, changed my route, which was silly and slowed me down. Was a hard race for me physically, especially up till 16 trying to keep up with Matt. Calf was good again!

wc trials sprint race. Course was pretty decent, quite a bit of straight running but a few technical bits, good for the area. A couple of tiny mistakes at the start, then big mistake at 15, easily 30 sec, slight mistake on 16, another big silly mistake on 22, then yet another on 25. Race really fell apart at 15 was doing quite well until then. Felt pretty fast running today and made easily over a minute in mistakes probably more like 90 sec. So not too haapy with that as could of easily made the cut without those, anyhow.... on the upside my speed on the flat felt good, and no calf issues.

middle trial. this didn't go so well.... stuffed up 1 pretty badly 2 mins, couldn't make sense of the contours... tom caught me up going to 4 and I ran (mainly behind trying to keep up) with him for the next 8 or so controls. Monumental fuck up at 14 overshot it then got really lost and struggled to relocate, ran around like a headless chicken for 13 mins. After that just cruised home, and made a couple more little mistakes along the way. Hard day at the office, but to be honest I felt out of my depth on allot of that map, and really struggled to navigate. On the upside calfs were good again, fitness on the other hand...

Orienteering 24:37 [4] 5.4 km (4:34 / km)

did 4 sprint courses, from sprint auckland day 2, that I missed. Westlake boys, rosmini, tgs and bis. Was good to do some proper sprint training, got a bit better as I went, although was never going to be that hard on maps that I know. Felt pretty good running wise and had a bit of pace when I needed to. Just need to focus on reading further ahead. Good training though.

Running 39:45 [3] 8.0 km (4:58 / km) +100m 4:41 / km

a very uninspiring kind of run round devo. a bit of slow offroad and coastal bits. Felt a bit average towards the end, and a bit flat everywhere else...

Running 42:30 [4] 9.51 km (4:28 / km) +50m 4:21 / km

Bit of an unscheduled run, but got a txt from Bruno to go for a run with him and his mate Tom Ashley! So figured I may as well then, actually felt allot better than earlier, maybe helped by running with others. Stanley point kind of loop. Went quite fast on the way back along the waterfront. Really enjoyed the run, gave me a bit more motivation, which I have been very low on lately.
