Keeping the home troops happy.
10 AM

Orienteering 1:00:48 intensity: (10:00 @2) + (40:48 @3) + (10:00 @4) 7.56 km (8:03 / km) +175m 7:13 / km

Decided I better do some O familiarization before March - so first run of 2012 was a rerun of 2011 Fall Festival Long at the Fells. Last run was hampered by jet lag/fatigue and errors on 2 legs = 64:25. Even at less than race pace managed to better that time. Focused on route choice, attack point and compass.
Some notable differences;
Route to 1 went left trail
6-7 more direct trail and cut across green (for green in general visibility better but runnability about the same underfoot).
10-11 was only real error again getting confused by trail system. Planned to aim off to get to right trail but got pulled left on compass through the choppy stuff.
11-12 executed better
The rest pretty similar and still not an easy map to pick up detail from because of the green screen.

GB xc, steady clip but had to work hard into the wind which was quite blustery- felt cold.

Light rain, grimey day.

Jogging warm up/down 32:00 [2] 5.0 km (6:24 / km)

before and after intervals

Running (treadmill) 12:00 intensity: (8:00 @3) + (4:00 @4) 3.09 km (3:53 / km)

Back to intervals and 12x1min around 5k pace with 1 min jog recovery. Ran the last few a bit faster as legs loosened up.

Overnight trip to DC- getting to know the place :-)

Nice out and not much of a freeze.

Jogging (trail) 34:21 intensity: (17:00 @2) + (17:21 @3) 7.2 km (4:46 / km)

GB XC softish underfoot, but fairly nice out. Just steady.

Beautiful day, great conditions at Weston, skiing on freshly groomed corduroy. Threw in some faster 2k ints at 3.30 pace interspersed with some technique work. Decent glide today - may invest in some HF wax to be a bit more dirt resistant.
Coulda skied all day, but places to go (Macy's apparently), people to see etc.
