Event: British Relays

Orienteering race (British Relays) 42:45 [5] ***** 5.5 km (7:46 / km)
ahr:175 max:187
Culbin. First leg, with Bill on 2nd & Charlie on 3rd. Mass start with all other mens classes, so a bit chaotic for first couple of controls, but then settled into flow in group with Clive and Jon.

Missed badly at number 9 (200, knoll foot) in green - must have been very close without seeing flag. Spent 3-4 mins looking around with several others, then decided we must be in completely wrong bit of forest. Spent 2 mins running away and coming back again having worked out we were in the right patch of forest, then another 2 mins actually finding the thing. Total 10 mins for a 3 min leg! The only good thing was that I could still see Jon just ahead, and Clive behind, who I thought were the main competition. Several other teams must have got well ahead.

Finished 5 mins down in 11th, but Bill and Charlie did the business, and we won by 4 mins. Phew!

Orienteering race (British Champs) 1:09:01 [5] ***** 10.6 km (6:31 / km) +240m 5:51 / km

Culbin. Good concentration, and it felt like quite a clean run, but in fact there were a few wobbles in the circle that cost me some time. Don't think I could have run Bill's winning time (66), but it might have been close, so happy with 3rd.
Running warm up/down 20:00 [1] 3 km (6:40 / km)
warming up and jogging to start
