Orienteering race 22:01 [5] **** 3.4 km (6:29 / km) +170m 5:11 / km
Scottish Relays, Tullochroisk. Same area as the individual, but on the 1:7.5k version of the map. Another nice sunny day, more tremendous views from the assembly field.

Arrived to find that I'd been put in the M40 handicap team with Charlie and Colin Smith (as expected), but I was doing the 3rd (shortest) leg. Quite happy with that - had been up quite late with JonX and other halves the night before, drinking various wines and vintage whiskey.

Charlie came back with the leading pack, Colin ran well, and then I had a fairly uneventful run too - just a slight wobble when I caught Pete Gorvett (who I knew was also running a C leg), but it turned out he was on a different gaffle. Knackered at the finish, but we'd won the 6 point handicap class.

Orienteering race 1:07:05 [4] **** 7.5 km (8:57 / km) +380m 7:08 / km
Tullochroisk - Scottish Champs. Decided that the course would be physically pretty tough (a lot of climb), and that I'm not fit enough yet, so instead I'd try to just have a clean steady run. Missed #2, but not too badly, then got into a nice flow. Was a great day, blue sky, and great views of the hills and Glen Rannoch.

Was still going steadily at the end when the course came into some intricate little hills and crags. Rob B caught me (though he was obviously running 21E) so I pushed a bit harder to try to stay with him. Unfortunately I also lost concentration, and navigated from 17-18 as I was leaving 16. Was slightly surprised to be too far left for 18, but corrected myself, chased after Rob, and finished. Only found out I'd missed 17 at download. Doh!

Never mind, it was such a nice day to be running on the hills, I enjoyed it despite being DSQd.

Orienteering 40:00 [1] 4 km (10:00 / km)
Spring Cup, Loxley. Arrived late because of train delays, and wanted to get away promptly to watch the Champions League final, so just jogged round the first two thirds of the long course.
