Orienteering 1:00:00 [1] 5 km (12:00 / km) +150m 10:26 / km
(injured)
Checking control sites with Al Buckley in Beeley, for the event next weekend.

Saturday May 31

Running 25:00 [1] 3 km (8:20 / km) +400m 5:00 / km
(injured)
Still can't put much weight on my right heel, but I can run uphill, without using my heel. Visiting Hayman family in Italy, so ran up first half of Sacro Monte from Marky's new house in Varese. Very nice ciocalatto caldo at the cafe at the top, followed by a beer in the sunshine.

Wednesday May 28

Note
(injured)
Can walk, but only by keeping weight off my heel. Ouch.

Tuesday May 27

Track 30:00 [2] 3 km (10:00 / km)
Hurdles training at the track. Jogged a few laps, then set up 4 hurdles at 110m spacing and height, trying to get the stride pattern working. Managed a couple of good sets, but then hit a hurdle with lead leg, and landed very heavily on one foot without managing to bend my knee. Jolted all the way up my spine. Aargh - seriously painful!! Tried to run it off, but couldn't. In fact I could only just walk. Lesley drove us home.

Event: York City Trophy (the 8th)

Orienteering race 33:00 [5] **** 4.9 km (6:44 / km) +30m 6:32 / km
York City Street Race. Started with a trail-o section in the NRM, which was fun but resulted in a 20 seconds penalty for getting two controls wrong. They were a bit dubious, definitely a case for an argument, but it was just a bit of fun so no point.

Ran the course fairly well, no mistakes just a few hesitations in the circles. On several long legs felt a bit sluggish, still got to keep working on fitness and speed before Portugal.

Managed 2nd place Vet - Steve Watkins beat me by 20 secs, but that may or may not have been because of my penalty points - will need to check the leg 1 splits to see.
