Reasonably easy course, almost perfect run. Was looking forward to a fun Final.

As leader after the prologue (by only 2 secs), I had to start first in the chase. Except it wasn't a chase, it was a 30 second interval start. A strange way of holding the second round, since it gives an advantage to the chasers.
When I picked up my map I was surprised to find it was just to a colour photocopy on plain A4 paper. Colours were pale, and I struggled to see the course clearly on the map. Also the print clarity wasn't great.
Then, just to really piss me off, it quickly became apparent that the SI boxes hasn't been turned on. At several controls I had to re-insert my SI card to get a punch. I ended up punching controls for at least a second to be sure I was getting a punch.
Didn't make any mistakes, but I felt distracted by so many things being weird that it didn't feel like a great run.
Ended up second overall, after one of the chasers (David Alcock) ran 20 seconds quicker than me.

Tried to not run too fast, to save some effort for tomorrow's Yorkshire Sprints. Just about managed to run negative splits for the two laps (9.31, 9.30).
Handed in Lesley's barcode by mistake. Told them of my mistake, but if they don't fix it, she just ran a huge PB!
