Orienteering race 34:51 [3] 5.65 km (6:10 / km) +63m 5:51 / km

British Relays, Torphantrick. M50. 4.9km.

I ran first, then Tim then Dave. Decent run apart from missing seeing a flag on a long spur (113), running past it, and having to reverse my route to find it. Cost me maybe 60 secs.

At the spectator control I think I was second, so I was surprised as I approached the finish to see a load of M50s appear from my left and finish ahead of me. I finished 5th.

It turns out the gaffles were quite different, and I'd had a reasonably long one. So did Tim, which meant that even though Dave only went out 4th, he had the short gaffle and was able to overtake Clive, Ben S and the LOC team that had been leading.

We won, and defended the trophy that we'd also won last year.

Orienteering race 1:03:17 [3] 9.71 km (6:31 / km) +252m 5:46 / km

British Champs, Balmoral. M50L. 8.3km, 270m. 2nd.

Not as fit as I'd like to be, so the aim was to run steadily and be good technically. That worked reasonably well, but I lost time at two controls near the end when tired.

Back in the terrain with Lesley who had missed her run as a result of us getting another puncture on the way to the event.
