Note

Feeling good this am, legs a little sluggish, and slight headache. Chugging some water. Gonna get a good breakfast, some dickasons blend, and get out there and hopefully get in another 3 hours...maybe bust the road bike today!

Cycling (Road) 3:09:16 [3] 57.14 mi (18.1 mph) +1350ft

Avg. Cadence 87

Was looking for three hours, but after 30 mins in and my dad pushing the pace I thought no way. We rounded down to LB, around the pyramid then headed south. Rode the first 25 miles with my dad, then he split off and I rode down and thought I would re-evaluate at what would be my 40 mile mark.

My legs were tired but the V juice finally kicked in! haha. I decided to charge Newport Coast, and charge home. I actually felt solid through, spun up newport coast and had a solid pace the last hour + home north even with a slight headwind. I am able to really tell im improving and some of these hours are definitely paying off, im pretty happy. I feel really good even though the legs are tired.

Got my recovery protien powerhouse shake in, gonna get the recovery tights on and chill on the couch with some good good beers and hope the dirty sanchez gets absolutely pummeled....like my legs feel :)

Cycling (CX) 3:15:33 [3] 54.68 mi (16.8 mph) +1236ft

Wanted to get in 3-4, 60 miles today. Was out on the CX bike, and these long days take a toll, due to the bike running knobbies, 70 psi, and its almost as heavy as the mtb. But when its sandy and messy as hell on the roads I will opt for it everytime.

Headed south to Newport Coast-climb-shady canyon-university-back bay-pch back north to long beach-army base road....ride over. I got a flat and didnt have my stuff on the CX bike, only 3 miles from my apartment....really not the best way to end a ride but it could be worse. Shoot, my legs were done! I dont remember my legs feeling so tired in a while. Got home, big old recovery shake, then off to home depot and up to LA to fix my granpas fence with my dad....always best to dig after a rain!

Solid dinner w/Sarah...been a while since ive had a steak...new york steaks/salmon/potatoes and we split a bottle of wine...my favorite saturday night.

Core/Weights/Prehab 50:00 [3]

10 mins stretching, dynamic and static set w/Sarah
25 mins upper body, mostly shoulders/back/chest today, some arms
15 mins core sequence (3 sets of 3, crunch, heel touches, bicycle) and 1 long plank hold at the end

Cycling (CX) 1:12:17 [3] 19.99 mi (16.6 mph) +225ft

Got off work a half day. Wanted to ride and looked like I had a break in the rain until 2pmish. Got all my gear on, and headed out on the cx bike. Legs felt great, ready to charge, first 3/4 of the ride was pleasant, and I was holding a good pace. As I headed back home about 3-4 miles left, the front I had been watching move in was right in front of me...

Photobucket

blamo! hail and FAT rain (forrest gump, vietnam raining scene) hard right in my face. I looked both ways (one side of PCH closed anyways) and crossed PCH, hopped over the sand barrier and straight to the restrooms by the beach. Waited there for two minutes for the hail to stop, then headed back last 10 mins in the rain, cut the ride shorter than I wanted but I dont wanna freeze!

Spent 15 mins cleaning and lubing the cross bike after this, all this wet with sand by the beach riding has made it sound kinda gritty. Hopefully its all good now and ready for tommorrows hopefully less wet festivites.

Rainy all morning again....bummed

Cycling (CX) 1:24:30 [3] 22.38 mi (15.9 mph) +680ft

Well, that was a brutal brutal ride. But im not complaining because I was able to get out on the cross bikes, without a drop of rain. A few things to note, strong onshore storm winds about 20-30mph the whole time, sand in my face and eyes was the worst, and the winds just constantly gusting and playing with you was a sure test.

I stayed on PCH down to newport and battled winds back towards home. This 15-20 mins was like a giant big gear interval, HARD! took a re-route through HB down goldenwest to add some miles. and for the last thirty mins the weirdest thing, a progressingly worsening headache, by the end my head was throbbing. Weird cause I really dont get headaches or anything. Despite all that, I was still pretty stoked when I got back.

We hit up the grocery, and now Im chilling with a makers and diet (the grandpa j prescription) and bout to make turkey/pastrami/avo/swiss burgers on bakery buns w/sarah and her parents here. Bring on the rain for the night, stretching and gym early tommorow, stoked!

Core/Weights/Prehab 45:00 [3]

Streets were really wet this morning when I woke up, just stopped raining around 430. Decided I really wanted to ride, but didnt want to get soaked. Hoping to get out later, busy day at work though and I am pretty sure its supposed to be raining later.

5-8 mins stretching
25-30 mins upper body (arms, back, chest, shoulders)
10-12 mins two sets of core sequence
3 PM

Note

Rainy, real messy, tons of warnings and tornados and whatnot. Streak looks like its gonna get broken today...not in the mood anyway shitty day at work.

Cycling (CX) 1:12:07 [3] 19.91 mi (16.6 mph) +166ft

Woke up in the morning and was PUMPED to see it hadnt rained overnight really, streets drying up. Got my gear on, left the garage at 530.

Bitch of a headwind right off the bat, for 10 miles battling a headwind hammering to keep a pace of 15-16mph. Hit river jetties in newport, go under the looparound on the path to go under the bridge, as soon as my headlight hits the bottom i see a HUGE brown lake, cx brakes arent the best so i didnt stop in time and went about 10' into the shit. about 80 feet to go...wtf. had to put a foot down in the shit colored puddle/lake, rode the last 10 miles home with a soaking wet right foot. atleast I had a tailwind on the way back north.

Still a solid ride, It worked me alright for a short 20 miler. Likin the feelin.

Core/Weights/Prehab 50:00 [3]
slept:8.5

Gym session this AM, lots of rain and tons more on the forecast.

5-7 mins of dynamic stretching, quads are sore!!
30 mins of upper body, shoulders, arms, chest, back.
12-15 mins of super core set with Sarah.

Now my whole body is gonna be pretty sore. Gotta keep moving during this rainy nonsense.

Cycling (CX) 47:19 [3] +250ft

Got off work, stayed a little late cause wasn't planning on a ride, needed to grocery shop. But walked out of the office, barely a cloud in the sky, windy as hell but I'll take it....told the wind to come see me and hauled home.

Got out for a nice little spin to loosen the legs out. Would have loved to put in a little more time but the sun had set and I was pumped after this ride. Its always the best when you dont expect to ride but youre able to!
7 PM

Note

Had a rad unhealthy mexi dinner out w/Sarah at Marios. Been going here ever since I was little. Fish taco & Chicken taco a la carte and Negro Modelo and plenty of chips and salsa. This is partly what I ride for :)
