What a solid super mellow ride with Sean C. It was mellow, apart from some brutal winds on the MD after Bstar. Incredible winds actually blowing us all over, got some video of it. Must have been 40+ mph winds/gusts at the passes, gnarly.

We parked up at the bottom of MW, and rode the road down to Bstar. Had a tailwind going down, good warm up. Mostly just scouted the course out today, and I kept the HR pretty mellow, and Im sure I was going way too slow for seanster, but my legs felt pretty trashy. Enjoyed the views, got some good photos, tons of green, and with the winds blowing everything out it was clear all around. Solid recon ride, had a good descent down MW, just stayed conservative, and back to the truck, fluid recovery. Course was pretty solid throughout, MW is good, hard to really judge alot of stuff with the winds, throws you off pace wise.

Worked on cleaned the MTB drivetrain and road chain. Now powering down a whole peach/whole banana/protien/green smoothie. Gonna do some more bike chores in a bit, then its just relaxing with some burgers, asparagus, pototoes, pliny, and the wife! Best weekend cappppper.

AC - 84rpm

Last night came home from the SA ride with Slamo and hit the showers and headed to Marios for a friends bday. Took down some tacos and margaritas and then hit the sack when we got home.

Woke up feeling good, I wanted to get in some long slow road miles today early. GF Pancakes, Hemp granola cereal w/almond milk (lovin it). Gramps told me I needed to get in 4 hours, not 3.99 so I set out for that. Met up with my dad and his friend marco, we headed out and kept a good pace, wind started picking up around 10 o clock. The route was HB-LB-NB-UCI-SB-HB. Pretty good loop and a brutal headwind for 20 miles or so from NB to Seal. Totally wanted to be off the bike but knew I had to just "take my medicine."

Kept a good pace but hit a ton of lights, had to be a record or something. I was seriously hitting tons of red lights, which made it even tougher. Legs were feeling it, cause kept a solid pace and average considering all the stop and go. Felt good still getting off the bike, hit the fluid recovery and had a bunch of eggs and a potato. Full now, relaxing.

This was a good final longer steady paced ride before VQ. Nervous for the race.

Awesome ride with Slamo. We got out to the trailhead, beautiful weather, sunny and warm. No arm or knee warmers until the trabuco descent. Our route was pretty simple, right up trabuco creek road to the trailhead, climb wht-md-descend trabuco.

Kept it pretty mellow leading up to WHT, hike a bike maybe 2/3 of the tough stuff, and riding the stuff I could. Never really got into a groove after the hike a bike, but glad its at the end of the race, just gotta hang in there for it during.

WHT was gnarly in terms of not really fun, dont really remember the other time I did wht previously, so it was basically a first time. Not really as bad as I thought, but totally as bad as I thought too at the same time, when I think how Im going to feel doing it at the end of VQ. So I am still preparing for the worst, and celebrating if it just happens to go better. Slater and Mo were hard to keep up with, but we had a solid time. Descended trabuco and my hands were numb which made it extra difficult and had some flying rocks come up and knock hard on the frame, freaked me out. Chipped a couple spot of paint off exposing some carbon, but not damaging it. Gonna work on repairing with model paint, and coming up with some sort of lightweight guard for the bottom to protect the bottom part of the downtube.

Got a rad video of slater and monique descending trabuco too:

Thinking about getting this jersey too, to race VQ in:

Got a solid weekend planned, hope all goes good. Enjoying the training too, a little nervous for VQ, hope I figure out what I got myself into...

AC - 87rpm

Got out in the cold. Was not that bad though 46-48. Trying just knee warmers this morning and wasnt bad, thinking VQ, but it will be colder than that. Still trying to boggle around in my head what I am gonna do/wear for the race. Bottles or Camelbak.....so many decisions!

Was a good ride though, dad couldnt come so by myself, kept it steady around 20mph but with some stoplights, enjoying the lighter winds, a bit offshore, good ride. After margaritas and beef tacos/beans/rice last night w/my dad, legs feel like superman!

ac - 88rpm

Actually got out and rode this morning w/my dad, 540am start. Was windy and had a tailwind to start. Did the usual loop, pushed into a headwind home, kept a good pace. Legs felt great starting and I was strong, then they began to feel sluggish about 30-40 mins in. Two days off was good for me, just need to get back in the swing again. Going to take the mtb out this afternoon and try and use ninja hiding skills from the wind.

Cycling (Mountain) 1:02:47 [3] 13.38 mi (12.8 mph) +621ft

MTB local trails. Still getting fit right on the bike, rear shock tuned, etc. Windy as hell but enjoyed being out there for sure, a couple walkers/dogs had to try and spoil the party but not fazed. Legs def felt a little more "broken back in" compared to the morning.

Note
(rest day)

Was going to hit the road bike this AM, woke up at 5am and saw the trees moving all over, windy! Bagged it, solo riding in the wee hours in brutal coast wind no thanks. Ill take another rest day, probably best for me, then hit it hard the rest of the week. I may sneak out for a bit on the mtb after work, depending on how today goes at work.

Also, got some boeshield t9 at rei, lubed up all 3 rides yesterday. Gonna give it a shot, just gonna sample around to try and find a good new fit. Notes taken on the dumonde tech, ill look around for that.

Note
(rest day)

Likely a complete day off. Long day at work and legs need the rest. I will get on the foam roller later for a leg pain session too. And hunt down some new chain lube for all bikes, squirt aint cutting it right now.
