Race day!

Woke up at 445. Ate some non irritating breakfast, no eggs or anything, brought coffee and left house for Olympia around 6A. Arrived 730A and checked in.

Race off at 845, cold, no knee warmers and glad cause it warmed up when you got out of the chilly canyon. Dropped out of the leadout group on the first road pitchy steep climb, and settled in once gravel started at about 5mi into my own pace.

Kept it steady throughout, eating lots of gels and going through drink/mixes. Almost all of the climbing is between miles 5 and 50, 8K in about 40miles so a lot of steep stuff. Super attentive on descents and lots of loose sharp gravel on the forest roads. Bike and tires held up. Rode a bunch back and forth miles 20-45 with another guy who I ended up losing on the last really long and steep climb, some cramping but got rid of it and kept a good pace charging to finish. Last 3-4miles in a group of 4 charging for finish behind a super strong roadie.

Really happy with the result, given only 3 months of structured training off some minimal unstructured base last year. Good feeling, want to keep it going.

Double lunch loop around Magnolia, Pretty good pace throughout, definitely best time since last year when I had been riding this more consistently. Legs feel good.

Cruise early afternoon, low 50s and cloud and breezy but no knee warmers, new gravelstoke kit on Scott w new used tires and new spin on new drivetrain setup. Easy, race wk.

4x5' @100 and 15' @85 cut short. I did 3 of the 4 100s and over halfway through the 15' at 85 when I couldnt take the noisy Wahoo Kickr. Awaiting a replacement for the issue, will likely need to do the rest of my workout outside until it comes, its a noisy clunky fucker especially today.

Prior to this just sounds like a frog on and off, this time just wonked out and clunky and shit. Guess I am putting down just too much power... haha.
