Event: Flying Pig X (OCIN)

Trail-Grass Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]
slept:5.5 shoes: VJ Integrator 2005
Spent 4.5 hour driving in the morning. There were almost no time for good warmup, so, only jogged to the start area. Felt tired afer all this driving ...

ahr:147 max:168 spiked:15/17c slept:5.5 shoes: VJ Integrator 2005
Flying Pig X, middle distance.
Was tired after night before and morning driving. Nothing too bad, but nothing good. Made two bobbles and couple bad route choices. Fortunately didn't have a problem near abandoned pig house cause was approaching control from the trail and it was perfectly visible from the distance.

Trail-Grass Running warm up/down 15:00 [2]
shoes: VJ Integrator 2005
Warmup before race.
Orienteering race 49:54 [3] *** 7 km (7:08 / km) +195m 6:15 / km
ahr:153 max:165 spiked:21/22c slept:7.5 shoes: VJ Integrator 2005
DVOA, Hibernia, Red course.

Nice course designed by Karl, easy controls locations but tough route choices. Did one error (overrun control) which costed me about 50-60sec.
C • Hibernia 3
Orienteering race (Sprint) 12:42 [4] *** 2 km (6:21 / km) +20m 6:03 / km
ahr:159 max:166 spiked:12/13c slept:7.5 shoes: VJ Integrator 2005
DVOA, Hibernia, Sprint.

Maps printout was a little too dark and it was hard to see controls and lines. Executed almost whole course without major problems, but by the end didn't see last control and was running toward finish. And just on time remembered that course suppose to have 13 controls, not 12. Looked at map and saw last control:) Lost ~40 sec. and at least one place.

Trail-Grass Running 1:00:00 [2] 12.4 km (4:50 / km)
ahr:133 max:145 rhr:48-52 slept:8.5 shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2006)
Nice late morning for an easy slow run.

Had a longer sleep than usualy and jog when the temperature outside was warmer and nice. Still, it was windy.

Another test-run with FR-205 to trace some more trails around. And actual GPS track perfectly match Google's aerial image.

Friday Mar 17

Trail-Grass Running 55:00 [2] 10.48 km (5:15 / km)
ahr:124 max:132 slept:7.0 shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2006)
Slow easy run.

Didn't feel good second half of the day and didn't know if I could go and jog. But later at home decided to clear my headeache anyway and went outside for a late night jog almost in the dark. And I pleased I did so, felt much better after.

Thursday Mar 16

Note
rhr:48 slept:6.5 (rest day)
No training today. Day long meeting just killed me, no motivation at all and didn't feel good. Then the best solution - day off.

Wednesday Mar 15

Trail-Grass Running 1:05:00 [3] 13.2 km (4:55 / km)
ahr:131 max:139 rhr:48 slept:6.5 shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2006)
Easy run, a little bit slower than in last 2 days. This time went to check trails network nearby.

BP after workout 122/86.

Tuesday Mar 14

Trail-Grass Running 1:05:00 [3] 13.5 km (4:49 / km)
ahr:137 max:145 rhr:49 slept:7.0 shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2006)
Another test-run with Garmin Forerunner-205. This time did more loops on the same trails, at least twice forward and twice backward. Nice effort ...

Tried different recording setting - used "1 sec." instead of "smart" option. Still, average descrepancy is around 5m, but some parts up to 15m. Found small trail circle (~10m radius) and ran it 6 times (3+3) which resulted in absolute mess.

BiM Active blog can be found there.

Currently I cannot figure out an easy way to export GPS data and import it later into some software where I'll be able to use my own scanned maps or at least utilize Google maps.

One of the ideas could be of using RouteGadget. Does it have such an option of importing GPS data?! Have to spend more time reseaching such a thing. Unfortunately we have only 24 hours a day:((

Monday Mar 13

Note
Week 17 - recovery (old week 22).
Trail-Grass Running 1:05:08 [3] 14.1 km (4:37 / km)
ahr:141 max:151 slept:7.0 shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2006)
Home trails network - looping multiple times to test Forerunner 205 (open and forested areas, mostly pine forest - white woods, light green and some green areas). Quck review showed max spread of tracks as of 15m and average is within 5m.

The biggest glitch so far: it shows I crossed Garden State Parkway:)) Instead, I was running along it. But this is a problem with Garmin map.

Tried to post my Blog at BiM web site ... grrr ... added my activity (as import from GPS), saved activity as a route, was able to add it into my favorites, but could not save it as a public blog, same error all the time ...

They fixed problem and my blog at BiM Active is available via Speedy.bimblogs.com.

Saturday Mar 11

Note
slept:6.5
Warm and nice day outside. Instead, visited few stores including REI and got mine Garmin 205 for the testing purpose. Would like to buy 305 (with HR monitor), but was told EAD of that model is unknown (Garmin produces not enough of them and the best way for faster delivery is to preorder on-line). So, probably this model will go back in any case ... ?!

OK, it was charged and the first test was performed. Went outside to get a better sky view and watch found 8-9 satellites (8 of them were fixed). Then, went inside - it was still tracking all 8 satellites. Good, to make it more harder, Wyatt went down to the basement. And guess what?! It was still tracking all 8 satellites. Sure, accuracy was less, but ... that was impressive!!! We'll see how it will work in real race tomorrow at Tyler park.

DVOA Valley Forge Goat 2.

Very nice race, good weather, a lot of fun to run again. HR max is definetely too high, my guess due to battery (have to replace it).

Felt good most of the race, but then got tired and felt bad by the end, so, slowed down a little bit. Fortunately did not loose visual contact with "train" (Clem, SVO runner, Randy, Greg A.). Finished 3-rd which good for me right now. I'll how feel later today and following week.
