Trail Run warm up/down 55:00 [1]
shoes: Salomon SpeedCross 3

Kynyn and I had some time to kill before our shift organizing parking at the Collingwood GNE, so we headed to the Pretty River Valley for an easy run.
We didn't want to get mixed up in the myriad unmarked trails that run through there, so we stuck to the blazed Bruce Trail and just did an out and back route. We were considerably quicker on the return trip to the car, as we had been climbing for virtually our whole way out.
The terrain under foot was much rockier, and more technical, than the area around Hockley Valley.

Paddling 1:09:00 [2] 9.5 km (7:16 / km)

It was a beautiful morning to be on the water; Not too cold, and very still.
I took a bit of a chance paddling the whole way around Island Lk. in the dark.
There are a lot of submerged stumps, that are pretty close to the surface, but I managed to avoid them all today.

Run (road) 55:00 [2] 12.0 km (4:35 / km)
shoes: Salomon S Lab Wings II

My alarm went off at 4:30AM, which is time to get up for Kynyn's rowing practice. The only problem was that rowing was yesterday, and tomorrow.
There was no way I was getting back to sleep once I had realized my mistake, so out the door, without waking the rest of the house, for a run around town.

Paddling 55:00 [2] 8.23 km (6:41 / km)

Out on Island Lk. this morning, starting in the pitch black. It felt weird to be paddling 'alone' in the dark, even though there were a number of other rowing shells on the lake too. I guess all of my recent night time paddling has been in AR with teammates very nearby. At some point (after it started to get light) I lost my flashing white bow light. I retraced my route hoping to find it bobbing and flashing on the surface, but no such luck. I suspect it sank immediately.

RedCord 40:00 [3]

I think I may have found my Redcord training partner. Kynyn went exercise for exercise with me, with only a few modifications for some of the upper body stuff. She's definitely stronger than me in overall core strength. It won't be long till she's kicking my butt on the ski trails too. I might be able to hold on for one more season, as long as I keep working out with her.

Run (road) (Terry Fox Run) 1:10:00 [4] 15.0 km (4:40 / km)
shoes: Salomon SpeedCross 3

Shuffled down the rail trail with T-man and Coach LD for the first 500m, ahead of the official start, as T-man runs best when motivated by lots of people all going the same direction. Once the lead runners caught us, I ran/pushed the empty baby jogger out to the 1KM marker and then started to the close down the gap between me and the two high school aged runners ahead of me.
I worked hard, and averaged 3:57/km over the 9+km that I ran. I was alone for the return trip to Palgrave, so when my motivation to push hard started to fade at around 7km, I thought of my dad who couldn't do the Terry Fox run this year due to his own issues related to his chemo. treatments.
Jogged back out to the 2.5km mark to finish with CoachLD and T-man.
Still feeling stiff in the calves after last weekend's 3 hr run in my FellCross shoes.
11 AM

Mountain Biking 50:00 [2] 14.6 km (3:25 / km)

Biked home from Palgrave via Albion Hills. I knew there was an orienteering event on, but wasn't sure where, until I saw a bunch of people in the distinctive blue and yellow "pyjamas" of the Ukrainian Club. Registration was still open, but as I had only my bike shoes, and had had a hard run already, and had another workout left in the day, I pressed on. I do need to get back out with a map in my hand soon!

Rollerskiing 1:25:00 [3]

Sunday afternoon roller ski practice in Palgrave east with the regular group of me, Kynyn, Coach Huet and her daughter Elise, but this time we had a guest coach, Brittany Webster, who is home from Canmore recovering from surgery, after having a rod removed from her leg. (It was put in following a nasty break about 5 years ago, but was giving her pain up and down her lower leg as it wiggled around inside her tibia.) She can rollerski and bike, but not run yet, so we were glad to have her join us and share her expertise.
Lots of legs only work. Ouch!
