Health centre to almost Witches Craig campsite and back including Alva Woodland Park both ways.
noticeable E wind on way back, but managed to be sheltered a fair amount of the time.
quads OK until about 20k
feeling generally fit, just my legs don't want to go.
really good view of a stoat running across the path in front of me between Tilli and Dollar.

Note

April training completed. hardest month for total hours since starting attackpoint, and if you add running and Cross-trainer together, it's the hardest for running as well, and nearly the hardest for running anyway.
now 3 weeks' recovery to try to let my legs get their bounce back.

from Clack end of cycle path to Slack, along road to Forest Mill, back to Slack, along cycle path to a bit beyond the deep gorge, return same route.

legs really hurting after a while, were already tired / a bit sore from yesterday. a bit scared my legs would seize up. bit worried that I seem to be getting slower... one more week of hard training, then three of tapering.

bit of a west wind - noticeably quicker than expected up the cycle path hill, and equally noticeably slower than expected on the descent.

Also getting a bit worried about the first underpass on the Stirling route - how can this not cause a bottleneck for those taking longer than say 3 hours? I reckon you could have 4000 people trying to get through in an hour - 1000 in 15 minutes...

Junior Park run with Rachel and Emma at Stirling

from Junior Park run round the Stirling loop of the marathon course, running the underpasses a couple of times and getting lost in Riverside, then out to Stirling Uni to run that loop, then forced my body back home via Wallace Monument and Blairlogie, until giving in at TIlli and phoning Dave to come and rescue me.
Not a good run at all, and probably should have stopped at 15k after recceing Stirling Uni. Slow pace through Stirling because of reading the map, avoiding cars and pedestrians, and sharp corners / short sharp ups and downs / doing 180 degree turns. Main problems in terms of running was that I got really cold, was already tired, and hadn't eaten enough yesterday. Also stopped a lot to sort out gel holder / jacket / get phone out etc, although I think most of the actual standing still won't be included in the time - out for 3'03'43 in total.
So: must eat properly the day before a long run; don't bother looking at a map or waiting for cars; take enough clothing (it's April in Scotland so expect winter conditions)

Perth swimming pool. wouldn't recommend it! there was this random current thing which meant that the only way to get a decent swim was to swim into the current, effectively staying still, just like on a treadmill. very boring. everyone else obviously wasn't there to actually swim as they just floated along and let the current do all the work, and then presumably wondered why they're still obese.

drove round first half of marathon route. lots of hills!
also did lots of loops round Dunblane following diversion signs which somebody obviously thought funny to put in circles so that you ended up coming back to where you started. Can't trust the locals!!

Clackmannan end of cycle path towards Dunfermline for 16.1k then back. feeling good to start with, feeling good on the first section of climb, struggling a bit by the end of the climb, struggling around 18 - 24 k, then got second wind for the last few k.
