running 4:23:23 [3] 41.7 km (6:19 / km) +1200m 5:31 / km

Glencoe marathon
really pleased with time! 2nd V40, 5th girl. 1st Sarah Rollins 4'09. 45th overall.
(Time was good enough to have been first vet and second girl for last 3 years, grr.)

Feet behaved themselves thanks to (far too much) Ibuprofen and cocodamol. Left calf sore and threatening to cramp in last 10k.

First 10k was fairly steady. Lots of people are apparently unable to run across tiny streams without coming to a complete standstill and holding up a big queue behind, so did a few overtaking runs through the heather. Loved the descent from top of Devil's Staircase to Kinlochleven. Took it steady on climb out of KLL, and then it was just a case of gritting my teeth and keeping running as best I could. Last 10k before the last 3k descent were tough. Last 3k down the forest track was OK, running fairly fast (4'43 m/k) but worried that calf might cramp.

Weather was perfect! very cold to start with, but no wind and sunny, and not too hot when it did get a bit warmer.
Underfoot conditions sopping on the boggy bits in Glencoe!

10k - 65 mins
Kinlochleven - 2'11 to 21k
total - 4'23'23
