Climbing 45:00 [3]

Good climbing day with Linda. Did 11 climbs, including 1 up and down climb, and 3 double climbs.... this climbing thing is getting much easier, and therefore much more fun! Didn't feel fatigued today. Rest week was a good thing, by the looks of it.

Hopefully Pascal and I will get to do our lead climbing test on Saturday, then skiing in Whistler on Sunday. Back to the gym next week Mon/Wed/Fri, climbing Thursday, maybe I'll even show up to orienteering instead of just spending 2-3 hours a day on related admin work....

Climbing 20:00 [3]

Lead climbing course at Cliffhanger with Pascal. Yes, he lost enough weight that we can now safely climb together, yay for him!

It was tough and a little scary. Had to take some big falls. It was, however, nothing compared to our lead climbing adventure in Skaha in November... so that's good!

Physically, climbing was tough. I ended up rainbowing most of my climbs, which was actually kind hard since the holds were not then optimally placed for me to get up as easily as I thought. By the last climb I was pooped! Easy week this week... which means no running to work, easy gym sessions, and probably some biking if it stops snowing. Seriously, only in Vancouver can it snow for nearly 12 hours straight with about 1cm on the ground... it's nuts!

Running 47:00 [3]

Ran to work. Started off feeling great, fast, etc, but this quickly crumbled in to tight hip flexors, feeling pretty wheezy, and generally not enjoying life. IT band pain kicked in just before the stairs up to Cambie Bridge. I did consider taking the bus across the bridge, but persevered. Did some stretching afterwards, but still sore now. Possibly not quite recovered from lots of skiing last week and hard gym and climbing this week. Need to build up endurance smartly...

Climbing 1:00:00 [3]

Climbing with Linda. Climbed 9 routes. Hard going but super fun. Gym is really paying off, finding I am stronger and can climb way better because of it!

Gym 1:00:00 [3]

Back to the gym. It's still boring, but I definitely felt that the regular exercise helped with the skiing last week, so I will persist...

Skiing 2:00:00 [3]

Skiing at Alta with Pascal. This was the only day we skied together, since he likes to go super fast down all the steep stuff! It snowed all day (even some lightning and thunder!), and we found some awesome powder runs with trees thrown in. Kept looping until we had to leave :( Best day of the ski trip and I want to go back to Alta soon!

Skiing 2:00:00 [3]

Skiing at Alta/Snowbird. Got first chair, so came cruising down some beautiful groomers. Light was flat, but still lots of fun to cruise around and explore the terrain.

Note
(rest day)

Driving to Salt Lake City. Reminded why I'm cautious of who's driving in winter conditions... you don't ride the brake down a snowy mountain...

Skiing 2:00:00 [3]

Skiing at Jackson Hole with Pascal and Jon G. Day 1 of our skiing road trip - Jackson Hole in WY, then on to Alta/Snowbird above Salt Lake City.

Had some issues with the altitude, which went away mostly by Wednesday morning.

Skiing at Jackson was fun. Cool little green trails through the forest, and some nice open groomers to cruise down!

Orienteering 15:00 [3]

Relay at Blue Mountain with Meg as part of Sprint Camp. Super fun little map that made for fun orienteering and great spectating.

Running 50:00 [3] 7.5 km (6:40 / km)

First 4km with couple of people from work, then rest by myself with my backpack part way home. Stopped and started a bit, so wasn't consistent with the walking/running. Still felt pretty good. Leg feels a little tight, but nothing crazy. Need to get out and do some trail running soon!
