Running 35:00 [3]

To WET at Vanier Park and back. Slight drizzle, but so green outside! I love spring! Speaking of spring, legs felt good today. Not too tired!

Orienteering 4:05 [3]

Short 'punch and drunk' course to practice flow. No problems, although I had run through the course accidentally on the way to the start, so I knew where most of the controls were... focus on looking ahead, reading the numbers, and exiting the controls in the correct direction. Fun! Took a copy of the longer course for next week... no time until I'm done work on Friday!

Orienteering 2:45:00 [3] 9.0 km (18:20 / km)

I thought yesterday was long... today I left my brain around control #3... little confused to 4, poor route choice to 5, helped a kid at 10 which took a couple of minutes. Then there was 17... too high, couldn't figure it out. 1 control = 26 minutes. Next time there are multi-day events I need to run down. I ain't fit enough for this elite malarky.

Despite running my 3 worst races in a while, I had a great time! Lots of fun going to an event I don't have to organize...

Orienteering 1:22:09 [3] 10.0 km (8:13 / km)

Long event at Interscholastics FTW! Fun map of trails and kettles. Generally OK race, just hesitant and slow. Big error to 10 where I ended up on the wrong trail and bashed around in some green only to end up back at the same trail... went for a different attack before I even noticed my error. Oops! Distance is an estimate based on Andrea's length + errors on my part!
5 PM

Orienteering 25:55 [3]

Sprint relay with Hilary and Louise. Louise came back in a strong position which I gave away on the first control :) Lots of little (mostly unmapped) deer trails = confusion. Ended up relocating off a depression. Then I had a 90 degree error and ran to 11 instead of 10 (same control description). Realized my error and had to run back to 10, then 11. Legs were toast!

Great fun to watch the last leg coming in. Magnus, Andrea, and Marg won the GVOC only team categories, plus their category overall. Very exciting sprint finish between John Rance and Brian Ellis for 2nd place, with Brian only just beating John! We had our cheerleading team and pom poms out, and were definitely the noisiest club there! See 'Orienteer Vancouver' Facebook page for photos....

Running 27:00 [3]

"Get outside in the sunshine and run" run. Slow and steady. Don't want to tire myself out before the weekend :)

Orienteering 32:15 [3]

Camosun Bog. Route choice was fairly easy, so I concentrated on flow through the control, refolding my map, etc, ahead of the Interscholastics this weekend. I want to be more disciplined, even on an easy run, so I develop good habits.

Running 22:00 [3]

Lunch time run down Marine Dr, up Salish, across Chancellor, Salish to Swordfern to Village. Stopped for veg/fruit then walked back to office. Weatherman (not Thomas) said it would rain all day... it was bright sunshine and blue skies when I ran... weathermen not to be trusted!

Gym 5:00 [3]

20 x shoulder push ups
20 x actual push ups
2 x 30 sec plank
30 squats

Sore back from lots of book carrying. Need to do more of this!

Note

Part of the Sun Run cheerleading squad (with Meghan and Andrea). We successfully missed Thomas at both Beach Ave and the finish... Thomas, you're too fast for us! We did see Louise, Magnus, and Graeme Rennie. Afterwards bumped in to Ran, Zoltan, Mike Rascher and Terrance.. lots of GVOC representation!

If you know anyone else who ran from GVOC let me know. I'll compile the list of times tomorrow and post on Facebook!

Running 40:00 [3]

Lunch time run down NW Marine, along the beach to Admirality, up the stairs then along west canyon to Chancellor. Down Chancellor and in at Swordfern, out at some street, past the bus loop and back to Sauder. Followed by 10 minutes of stretching. Beautiful day!

Skiing 2:30:00 [3]

Skiing at Whistler. Sore arms from climbing made the ridiculous amount of skate/polling to get across the flat parts painful. Got some great tips from John which helped a LOT! Symphony bowl in the morning, lunch, then peak to creek, which has been renamed Quad Shredder. Couple more runs then home time. Quads sore, arms sore, face burnt = awesome weekend!

Now I have a seasons pass at Whistler until the end of May. Can't wait to finish work at the end of the month to ski study during the week!

Climbing 1:00:00 [3]

Climbing in Squamish with Louise, John, Pascal, and Pascal's work colleague John (who Louise tried to nickname 'Red Beard'... didn't stick!

Half way up the first wall I remembered I was supposed to work on strength stuff over the winter to make this stuff easier... ooops! Lots of fun though. Nice day!

Orienteering 39:33 [3]

WET at Lower Lynn. Definitely a runners course, and I didn't feel like a runner! My legs were pretty heavy and I couldn't find any speed. Orienteering was pretty easy and didn't have any issues.

To work up 8th.

cycling 25:00 [3]

Home via the beach. Cloudy but didn't rain. Success! Tired today... big switch up at work means I have to train 3-4 people on my job in 3 weeks, one of whom has worked at the reception job for 7 years and knows f-all about the place... sigh!
