Skiing 3:33:00 [3]

Second ski day, as gorgeous as the first. Windy in the afternoon.

Hiking 15:00 [3]

Tbar closed due to the wind, so I had to hike up the hill in my skis to the cabin we were staying in. Sinking up to your knees in snow while climbing up hill holding skis is not much fun. Hot buttered rum in the cabin almost made up for it!

Skiing 2:00:00 [3]

Beautiful afternoon ski at Smithers. Fresh powder, few people, no line ups... Screw you Whistler! Borrowed a friend's skis, as we only brought our boots on the plane. Took a couple runs to figure them out...

Note

Sledging on 2 inches of ice! Steep hill, so got the heart rate up walking back up again. Took a tumble and banged my right knee. Will have symmetrical bruises!

Leg still hurts from the fall last Wednesday. The bruise was about the size of my palm. Ouch!

Gym 5:00 [3]

3x 1 min full plank
3x 20 squats
3x 10 push ups

Rest day. Legs needed a break. Will try to get out when we're in Vanderhoof, but it can be hard.

Nice bruises on left knee and right leg from yesterday's fall.

New years resolution - 4+, hours of training per week. Need to find some good trail races to train for, preferably ones close by in areas with good views! I like the look of that new one in Squamish, but it's the same weekend as COCs... Any suggestions? I'm looking around 20km, sometime in late summer/fall.

cycling 26:00 [3]

Cycled to work. Ouch!

cycling 5:00 [3]

Oaf, then weeeeee!
6 PM

Orienteering 33:50 [3]

Control picking at Queens Park. Fun course. Started out pretty slow, but was reading ahead and had good flow. Had a couple of bobbles in the playground section when the legs were short. Felt really good about my orienteering tonight!

Rookie mistake - stepped on a slick, wet log and fell over. Bruised knee and cut on my leg. Idiot!

Christmas party afterwards with lots of good food and drink company. Thanks to Karen, John, and Meghan for hosting!

cycling 23:36 [3]

Biked to work. Edit: Pushed hard on the hills; no walking involved!
1 PM

Running 25:25 [3]

Lunch time run. Feel like I don't have a lot of oomph in the legs. Not sure whether it's because I'm training more now and have tired legs, or if I've put on a bunch of Christmas fat and need to lose it, or whether I'm just lazy...
4 PM

cycling 5:00 [3]

Token for the hill and cycling out of the campus. I don't think cycling down hill with a tail wind shouting "weeeee" doesn't count as training!

Running 35:28 [3]

Lunch time run. Down NW Marine Dr, along Admirality, up West Canyon, and back via the village to HA. Never been along those trails before, so it was fun to try somewhere new. Lots of mud! Legs felt tired today, and my calves are still aching from skiing.

cycling 20:00 [3]

Cycled from home to Orams. Thought my quads would get off on the 16th hill, but I was distracted by some running group doing exercises up the hill!

Orienteering 45:00 [3]

Skinkaloppet from Louise's to Camosun Bog. Wasn't looking promising, as I forgot my sports bra, and brought 2 right shoes! Luckily I have wonderful friends who have extra clothes/shoes. Ran the whole thing with Meg. Some nice sections of forest I've not been in before. Someone paved one of the trails... I think I need to have a word with Aaron on that. Ended up retaining my Skinkaloppet crown, around 5 minutes from my guess. Guess this means I'm organising next year!

Skiing 2:30:00 [3]

Skiing in Whistler with Pascal. I'm finally getting the hang of this now, and realizing that my boots are too big... there goes my Christmas money! Got lots of runs in, as it was pretty quite (for Whistler!). Stayed on the upper part of the hill above the cloud line. The sun even peeked out for a while! Fun times... must do more!

Running 32:18 [3]

Same route as Tuesday. Shaved a few minutes off the time, which is nice. Felt strong while running, even though I slept badly last night, and am still not feeling that great. Walked a little of the salish hill, but ran up most of it. Gotta get stronger!

Running 35:00 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Inspire 7

Post-sick lunch time run. Took it easy, since I'm still not feeling 100%. Felt good running though. Down Main Mall, along Chancellor Blvd to the NW Marine Dr hill, down the hill, and up Salish, then back along Chancellor Blvd to Lower Mall, and up to Henry Angus. Walk/ran up the steep parts of Salish.

Decided to start logging the shoes, just out of interest... guess that means I should also start logging my kms...

Note
(sick)

Taken the day off work, as the cold finally hit. I don't feel too bad really, other than my nose resembles a leaky faucet! It sucks when your job involves working with people, so even though you know you could work, you don't out of courtesy. I mean no one enjoys being sneezed on! There goes 1 days pay...

Wednesday Dec 7, 2011 #

Note

Walked the O course at False Creek with Pascal. Fun section on Granville Island.

Still not feeling great. This cold, or whatever it is, has been lingering for over a week now, making me tired, but not super ill. I wish it would just knock me over for 2 days and then go away. I hate lingering sort-of-kind-of-illness.

cycling 25:55 [3]

Cycled to work. Didn't feel as bad as yesterday, maybe because I knew what was coming?? I did a little sprint up the hill on University Blvd... not the biggest hill, but my legs were burning. Nice day for a ride!

Note

So my bike is stuck at UBC. I tried to open the lock after work, and it just wouldn't go. Pascal and I went back just now with WD40 and a second key... didn't make a difference. Anyone got bolt cutters I can borrow?! And watch the news for my arrest as I try to 'steal' back my bike!

In other news, I made lots of delicious Christmas cookies! I need my bike back, so I don't gain a huge amount of Christmas weight!

cycling 1:32:00 [3]

Timed my commute to UBC. About 27 minutes there, and 18 back! Those hills are killers! I haven't been feeling too good, and the uphill was not at all pleasant!

Did a PSP jaunt on the way back - in to Salish at 10th, Douglas Fir, Clinton, Sasamat, Clinton, Salish. Quick stop at Blenz before heading home.
