Running 38:32 [3]

Lunchtime run. NW Marine to Admirality, up a trail to Chancellor, then across to Swordfern and back via the sub to the office. Lots of mud!

Calves and ankles felt achy, so I did some stretches after.

8 AM

cycling 24:17 [3]

Biked to work up the 8th Av hill. I swear this is more uphill than going the beach way, but it's quite a bit quicker. When I looked out the window before I left I thought the weather would clear up. No such luck - big fat rain drops by the time I reached UBC. Luckily I had to foresight to bring a complete change of clothes and a towel!
5 PM

cycling 30:00 [3]

Cycled home from work via the beach. Headwind made it feel like I was cycling in mud... At some points I swear I was cycling on the spot! Thought going up to 8th might help, but it was just a wind tunnel... Good resistance training!
7 PM

Orienteering 25:00 [3]

Memory O at Cates Park. Only had issues with control 6. Legs didn't really want to run. No headlamp required. I love spring!

Running 20:00 [3]

Warm up/cool down

Tempo 20:00 [3]

Faster run. Ended up pushing faster and further as there were was some class in the forest, and I didn't want to stop in front of them :)

Orienteering 1:00:15 [3]

WJR at Watershed. Fun course. Orienteering brain didn't kick in until #2. Had Kean behind me from 9-11, which made me kick it up a notch.... it's fun to orienteer at that speed, but I don't have the physical ability to run that fast for too long yet :)

Skiing 1:00:00 [3]

Skiing at Seymour. Stayed at the top where the line was short (basically skied on). Beautiful blue day. Lots of short steep sections, so worked on my technique.

Back home via the beach!

Note

So I've not been feeling so hot the last couple of weeks. My nose won't stop running, and randomly my eyes just start watering and itching like crazy. I think it might be hayfever, but past couple of days I've had an itchy throat. Very tired as well, so no urge to train. Plus it's been raining a lot, and I didn't want to get soaking wet and cold while feeling crappy. Hopefully back to full strength next week!

Orienteering 27:27 [3]

WET at Central Park. Started out with Meg, but then went off on my own. Couple of hesitations, but a fairly clean race. Pushed at the end to try and catch Hilary, but she was too far ahead.

Running 15:00 [3]

It started raining, so decided to do Wreck Beach stairs for a shorter workout... did the first set and was super winded at the top. Then my lungs started hurting a lot. I ran around to the other stairs, but my lungs were still really sore, and I didn't want to induce an asthma attack...so I did some squats and walked back to the office.

Question - do you get really painful lungs when you run? Was I over reacting thinking it was asthma related? I find it hard to tell, and don't really feel like finding out the hard way...

Gym 3:00 [3]

3 x 20 squats

Note

Just went to see Straight No Chaser. AMAZING! If you ever get the chance to see them, GO!

Gym 30:00 [3]

Yoga at home. Very tired (slept 30 minutes when I got home), and it was raining and too cold for me to feel like going to WET. Nice to stretch - haven't done that in a while!

Running 18:00 [3]

Warm up/down

Running 9:00 [5]

9 x 1 minute fast running, with c. 30 sec of rest inbetween, except between 6 and 7, where there was a c. 3 minute break.

Felt unmotivated today, so decided to push myself for short periods rather than just another run.

Met Rachel on the way back to the office!

Wednesday Mar 7, 2012 #

Orienteering 25:50 [3]

WET at Renfrew Ravine. I always forget how small this map is! Didn't eat properly in advance, and felt really sick for most of the run. Interrupted my flow. Not the best run ever.

Time is a guess until Gar posts the actual times: EDIT: time corrected. I was 50 seconds off...

8 AM

cycling 33:00 [3] 8.6 km (3:50 / km)

Different (and slightly longer) route to work - 3rd to Jericho, then along the water front. Beautiful clear blue skys, snowy mountains, calm waters, and birds chirping. It's a good day :)
2 PM

Running 31:00 [3] 5.5 km (5:38 / km)

University Blvd to Swordfern. North on Swordfern, then down Salish (?) to NW Marine. Up the hill for the second time today :) Pottered around Chan, then down to Lower Mall. Gorgeous and warm in the sunshine. Beautiful day!

Distance is approximate.
5 PM

cycling 25:00 [3] 8.5 km (2:56 / km)

Cycled home via the beach because it was too nice not to.

Monday Mar 5, 2012 #

cycling 52:00 [3] 15.0 km (3:28 / km)

Cycled to and from Mike Raschers place for GVOC executive meeting. Nice evening for a ride!

Saturday Mar 3, 2012 #

Running 1:10:00 [3] 12.0 km (5:50 / km)

From my place down Bayswater then hit the seawall at Kits Point. All the way down and over Cambie bridge, back up to and over Burrard bridge, then Cornwall to Bayswater. Distance is approximate.

Was only planning to do a short run, but felt good, so decided to go down to Science World and round that way. By the time I got to Cambie bridge and realized I had no water, food, or money, it was better to cut it a little short. I've been up since 5:40, as Pascal left this morning for Vanderhoof, so didn't want to push my luck.

Second and third toes rubbed together, causing small blister on each toe. Never happened before... hip flexers and left quad were hurting by the end. It's been a while since I ran for so long on concrete.

I feel way better now, not so sluggish. Go running!
