Overnight biking trip to the South Chilcotins for the weekend with Pascal. From Tyaughton Lake up High Trail to a random alpine field to camp, then over the hill and down Lick Creek Trail. Due to steepness, and later fatigue, I didn't do a whole lot of biking, but it was still an awesome time.
Awesome things about this weekend:
- I am fitter than I think I am, since I'm just tired, and have no real muscle pain.
- This area is so incredibly beautiful, with some sweet single track at the top!
- It didn't rain
- We got to camp in the most picturesque alpine field (I'll link to photos when Pascal sorts them out... don't hold your breath!)
Things I learned from this weekend:
- When experienced outdoor people like Robyn and Bruce Rennie say things like "isn't the hike up into the Chilcotins really steep", or "we took a float plane up and hiked for a week", these should ring alarm bells...
- Pascal's route planning skills leave a little to be desired.
- I should really take a bigger interest in route planning.
- Biking with loaded paniers sucks, especially when the single track is narrow.
P.S. I am logging every single minute of this hike because I had to push my loaded mountain bike up, and it was freeking steep!
P.P.S
photos! It's a miracle they're done already!
